RAW (July 1st, 2019) – Stayed For Hour 1… Dropped Off At Hour 2… Take 2

Yes, your eyes do not deceive you. I did watch RAW this past Monday night… well, some of it, anyway.

Also, yes, your eyes do not deceive you. I’m doing another one of these today… because I accidentally deleted the old one. My bad. Fortunately, this is a much better write-up with a bit more inflections.

RAMBLEMANIA 35

So it’s a history making night at Wrestlemania… depending on who you ask.

To WWE, all its contracted talent and employees as well as the most diehard of diehard fanbase, it was the event where women took part in the closing main event spot for the first time ever. It was the event where Kofi Kingston became the first black man to hold the prestigious WWE World Heavyweight Championship (assuming you don’t count the Rock, of course.) It was the event where Kurt Angle and Dave Bautista had their final matches as professional wrestlers and WWE Superstars.

To everyone else, it was the longest fucking sports entertainment show in the history of mankind… no, not THAT Mankind.

While I had not been excited to watch Mania this year – primarily due to the booking and storytelling being somewhat lackluster in getting me excited for this show – I was able to catch the first couple hours or so live before dozing off to bed… and then a week and a half would pass before I’d get around to watching the rest of it. And even then, it took me a couple days to get through the rest of it because… well, let’s just get into it.

I’m not going to touch on the pre-show because I generally don’t watch the pre-shows. But for anyone who cares, Carmella won the women’s geek battle royal, Braun Strowman won the men’s geek battle royal, we got a new Cruiserweight champion in Tony Nese, and apparently Curt Hawkins went from “guy who lost 2 billion matches in a row” to RAW Tag-Team Champion with Zack Ryder, as they defeated previous champs The Revival for the belts. Make of that what you will because I’ve no real thoughts on the matter.

Smackdown (March 26th, 2019) – Five Points Of Stuff

So, in celebration of Kurt Angle’s farewell tour that sees him have matches with guys that he faced in TNA, I decided to DVR last night’s Smackdown and gave it a watch. Unlike RAW, this was a much easier viewing experience at a mere TWO hours. However, I’ve little to say on this show beyond the four points that I’ll bring up after the break.

WWE Fastlane 2019

So here’s the deal… I watched this show over a span of three days because I no longer have the patience to sit through a ten-hour PPV. Wrestlemania might be the one sole exception if there is a party I can attend, but even that might be a stretch. So I watch this show and it feels like a complete waste of time. This isn’t a knock of the quality of the show, but rather just the “nothing happened” atmosphere that resonated throughout the show.

WWE Elimination Chamber 2019

So in a rare feat by my standards, I actually watched a WWE PPV live. But not the whole show… instead I just sat through the two chamber matches that opened the show and skipped everything else in between. From what I’ve heard, the middle of the card, featuring a couple title changes and Baron Corbin beating Braun Strowman in a no-DQ match, was the drizzling shits. So once that first Chamber match was over, then I took some time editing the Pixel Player gimmick, which should be up sometime tomorrow, barring anything coming up that is beyond my control.

I posted some thoughts on the two chamber matches earlier this week, but just recently, with some unexpected free time on my hand, I decided to go back and watch the stuff that I skipped out on the first time around to see if it were as bad (or perhaps not as bad) as people made it out to be. Since I’ve watched the whole show, I’ve decided to take down the earlier post, expand on it considerably, and the end result is today’s bonus musings of sorts.

For the record, I wrote the bulk of this before Smackdown aired.

Royal Ramble 2019

Sorry for the week-long delay, but sometimes when you’re doing a ten-hour WWE PPV that is a sloth to sit through, you need a couple days to digest this whole thing. I tried watching this live, tapped out, eventually gave up and didn’t pick things up until a couple days later.

Fun fact: This is the first WWE PPV that I’ve attempted to watch in its entirety since perhaps Extreme Rules? Hell In A Cell? I don’t even remember now. There was that Super Slowdown show from Australia, but I think that was on tape delay or something. In any event, this was the first show that I laid my back on the couch to watch… the perfect position to be in when a show puts you to sleep. But did it do that?

Let’s find out…

RAW Ratings Hit A (Latest) New Low

Source: https://www.sescoops.com/wwe-raw-viewership-draws-historic-low/

B-but Ronda Rousey is supposed to be a big draw! A ratings draw! Who wouldn’t want to see Ronda in fake fights after she fell off the earth for losing a couple real ones?

A-and B-b-brock Lesnar! The show’s got B-b-brock Lesnar!

Whatever.
