Return Of The Jedi – The Final Star Wars Film… Until It Wasn’t

2022 marked the 20th anniversary of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and… well, I wrote a thing on that a while back, so I will spare you that piece of business here.

However, 2022 also marks the 30th anniversary of the third and final film in the original Star Wars Trilogy: Return Of The Jedi. And for seventeen years, it was exactly that; the last Star Wars film. Once the prequels came out, it merely became the final chapter in the Star Wars saga… until the arrival of The Force Awakens in 2015. Now I’m going to set aside all those other films for a moment – or at least, the majority of this write-up – so I can offer the following thoughts on Return Of The Jedi and why it was a satisfactory conclusion to the saga.

Sunday Gimmick Table #20 – Hyperkin Retron1 (from 2016)

Recycling a segment from an old Christmas thing and turning it into a video six years later, it’s the Hyperkin Retron 1 from 2016. Just so this doesn’t come across as a total copy-and-paste job (though, let’s be honest, it is), there’s an extra bit at the end that’s brand new. Anyway, it’s better than nothing and I didn’t need ten Kickstarters to pull it off.
Would’ve been nice, though.
Yes, there’s a glitch in the opening titles. It stays in.

Servers Dressed As Power Rangers Save Woman From Getting Choked By Man… No, Really

Even Lord Zedd frowns at this.

Source: https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2022/10/19/power-rangers-ramen-oakland-restaurant/

Imagine a themed day at your new restaurant where you’re all dressed as superheroes and suddenly, you actually have to play the parts and keep some dude from choking one of your customers… all I will say is that I hope that those Rangers got some mighty big tips because they earned it after that showing. Kudos to Noka Ramen; you may have gotten a honorable mention on the Winners List of 2022.
Honestly, this is more newsworthy than what I usually watch on Wednesday nights.

WWF Survivor Series 1997 (25th Anniversary Re-Post)

The Montreal Screwjob celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary… how does that work, exactly?

Your guess is as good as mine.
I wrote a PPV Musings on this show five years ago to celebrate the event’s twentieth anniversary and while I was tempted to go back and watch this show to celebrate the occasion, it occurred to me that I’d have nothing to add to the proceedings in the five years since I mused on this particular event. And so I’m going to do something wholly unprecedented and I’m going to repost this musings, even though you can look up the original 2017 post, which is the exact same thing as this… except for this intro… and maybe a couple other things.
For those who want a full recounting of the events leading up to the 1997 Survivor Series event and the aforementioned Screwjob (or as WWE calls it, the “incident”), the Wrestling Observer recently posted an article called “Reliving The Montreal Screwjob 25 Years Later“, which is basically a repost of some of Dave Meltzer’s coverage of said events from back in the day, considered to be the most accurate account of said events. And of course, there is Paul Jay’s brilliant Hitman Hart: Wrestling With Shadows documentary film, which you can watch for free on Youtube.

But if you’d rather read my ramblings on the event – for whatever reason – continue onwards after the break.

How Long Before I’m Accused Of Being An Anti-AEW Bot?

So let me get this straight…

CM Punk – your AEW World Champion – returned to TV last week and clashed with Jon Moxley – your interim AEW World Champion and last night, the two had a bit of a kerfluffle if you will. This match to unify both belts is supposed to be a big deal. Jim Ross went so far to say on his podcast that this could be the biggest match in AEW history. Clearly, if there was a bonafine main event for your big All Out PPV that’s coming in three weeks, this would be it.

So why in the blue hell would you book that match next week on Dynamite… FOR FREE?

I think ol’ TK is starting to lose his marbles. Just when you think things are on the up and up with some good shows, there’s a couple whacko decisions that make me wonder what the fuck. This PPV is in three weeks and they haven’t done much of a good job of building this bloody thing. Give me a reason to watch this show, is what I’m saying.

I’m not upset enough to throw up the Corny Face… but was I ever tempted here.

On the bright side, Danielson/Garcia was top-notch.
