Happy New Year, everyone.
Before we begin, I’d just want to give everyone a heads up that I’ll be taking this month off from material and that we’ll resume this journey in mid-February. While 2018 has had some highs and lows on a personal front, I’m pleased to say that the blog and subsequent Internet presences have seen a significant boost in content and with material lined up for the future, things are looking up. But I need a cooling period, folks, so check back in about a month and we’ll start things up again real soon.
This isn’t a full-on “closure” of the site or anything. There will still be stuff coming up, like the Classic Wrestling Musings every Wednesdays and maybe one or two other things along the way, but it’ll definitely be a much leaner month compared to the past few, which have been pretty heavy. Hopefully, things will be back to full force come February, where I hope to have a regular schedule of sorts, as it relates to content.
With that said, this list of 2018 is not fantastic and perhaps not as plentiful as previous years, but regardless, the stuff worth mentioning is listed here and the stuff that isn’t… well, isn’t.
My head hurts this morning… and I need to get stuff off my chest for a bit.
Well, it’s come to this. The end of an era… or rather, the beginning of the end.
Today marks the end of Wii Points; from this point forward, Wii owners will no longer able to procure additional Wii Points so that they can purchase games from the Wii Shop, thus obstensibly killing Wii Shop. From this day forward, the only purpose of Wii Shop is to spend whatever points you have left over and eventually download all your purchases to your Wii or SD memory card before the Wii Shop eventually closes shop for good next January.
The beginning of the end of an era, indeed.
As I’m typing this first post of 2018, I am minutes away from falling asleep. So I just want to take the time to wish you and your loved ones a very happy and prosperous new year. Here’s to 365 days of good fortune, good health, and staying safe. Turning off the lights for now. Have a good one, folks. And please, drink responsibly.
With that having been said… it’s that time of year again… the annual Winners And Losers of 2017 has arrived in text form.
The good news is that, compared to 2016, 2017 is coming out like a lovely rose. There are certainly low points, sure, but not enough that they ruined the whole damn year for me. Not even “that fellow” in the Twit House or whatever is called.
The list is fairly short; about ten or twelve entries a piece with a few middle grounders. But for anyone wondering, the list does NOT include certain political figures (including a certain orange fellow who was voted into office), it does not include Capcom over their Mega Man 11 announcement (let’s wait until the game is released before we judge it, okay), and it does NOT include Mark Hamill… because why would it include Mark Hamill?
Anyway, on with the list… after the break.
Happy Holidays to all and stuff.
At the moment, I’m currently working on compiling the Winners And Losers of 2017 list and as I was gazing through the list, I spot an entry that has me stumped. See, the way this works is that I list said winners and losers (along with some “middle grounders” that fit neither category but deserve mention regardless) and I would add some brief thoughts. And when it came to this one entry, I had a difficult time coming up with a brief statement that would sum up this entry as a whole in 2017.
It got to a point where I started writing… and kept writing… and kept writing… until I had several paragraphs worth of text on screen. So for a list format, that’s too much… but for its own blog post, that’s perfectly fine. So here we are… talking about said entry that should be obvious from the post title and the image above.
In celebration of Mighty No. 9’s one-year anniversary… here’s a rambling of my perspective on this whole Mighty No. 9 thing. I was going to do this as a video, but time constraints (mostly dedicated to more important matters and material) made this an unreality. A review of the game itself will be coming up in December… maybe.
To celebrate the occasion of Mighty No. 9’s one year anniversary, here’s an old commentary video on that rather infamous Masterclass trailer that has anime fans crying on prom night or something. A “proper video review” of sorts will be up and running around Christmas season.

In a break from the norm where we usually spell out doom and gloom for TNA Impact Wrestling – though, make no mistake; we’re well prepared for that occasion should the need arises – I’d figured it would be fun if we spell out doom and gloom for World Wrestling Entertainment instead. And man, if there was ever a time where such talk is worth taking really seriously, this would be it.
The following is a transcript of a segment from Episode #70 of the DTM-Cast, slightly adjusted for text format.
A couple weeks ago, Impact Wrestling has finally dumped the much-maligned TNA moniker and pretty much dumped the prior management for its idiotic decision-making and things of that nature. So what we’re going to get from here on out is a new product that’s pretty much the same as the old product. A Global Force of wrestling, if you wheel… or actually, don’t wheel. It’s not worth it.
