This bustin’ don’t make me feel good. In fact, it made me quite sick.
Fun With Simon’s Quest – A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Dracula’s Castle
On the mend… which is more than what I can say for young Simmon.
AEW Dynamite (Oct. 8th, 2024) – A Title Tuesday With Only One Title On The Line
Still recovering from a nasty cold that has left me mostly bed-ridden overnight, but well enough to move around at least. I’m mostly doing this from my laptop, so I haven’t touched a proper machine yet.
In any event, Dynamite aired last night for some reason and I decided to give it a watch. Dubbed Title Tuesday, it featured one title match – TBS Champion Mercedes retaining over Emi Sakura in a fairly pedestrian match. There was also a four-way match that saw Willow Nightingale earn a Women’s title shot, a match between two masked dudes that was… a thing that happened, and the main event tag match between Bryan/Yuta and Claudio/PAC that was fun while it lasted, but did not leave much of an impact in terms of interest in this upcoming PPV.
Honestly, a lot of this show was just a blank slate afterwards. Is this the kind of show you put on as the go-home for your PPV this weekend… or is this the kind of show you put when you’ve been pre-empted and you realize more people are going to watch the new NXT on CW show instead? Because this certainly feels more like the latter.
Either way, it’s more people watching this than whoever is watching Billy Corgan’s NWA show on the CW app.
P.S. – Apparently Daniel Garcia also came out and announced that he re-signed with AEW… and the crowd went mild… oops.
Another Delay Due To Cold… Also Fully A Bore
Struck with a cold and haven’t gotten much done, so video has been delayed yet again. I swear this next review is cursed for many reasons and I blame Ernie Hudson’s kids.
In other news, the new Joker is out and people don’t like it. It apparently bombed at the box office and garnering rather negative reactions. I actually liked Joker for what it was and felt that it didn’t need a sequel. So when they announced a sequel, I was like… “why?”
But then word gets out that it’s not only a sequel nobody wanted, but it’s also going to be a musical. Well, that’s already two strikes against this thing in my book because I don’t care for musicals. Not my thing. So right there, whatever minor bits of curiosity may have lingered beforehand is all but extinguished and I’ve resolved not to see this film. Don’t care if it’s the greatest thing ever. I don’t care for musicals and a musical Joker… well, that makes no sense to me.
And then the reviews come in… apparently, people hated the movie because it does everything within its power to undo everything that was done in the first movie. Whatever you liked about the first movie… well, they did the opposite here. There’s a narrative they want you to follow that is contradicted by the existence of that first movie, which said everything that needed to be said and this exists for no reason other than… something or other?
That’s about it for me. I’m going to bed.
Your “Homework” For This Afternoon – The Eurocom Ernie Hudson Interview From 2008
Source: https://www.eurogamer.net/ghostbusters-ernie-hudson-interview
Today’s scheduled review (and everything else this week for that matter) has been pushed back a day due to technical issues on my end. To keep you busy, here’s the Eurogamer interview with Ernie Hudson from 2008 talking about the (at the time) new Ghostbusters video game. The byline should give you a clue as to what our next game is going to be.
DTM-Cast – Episode #252
Click here to download the MP3.
The first forty-two minutes is dedicated to revisiting the fifth anniversary of one of the worst WWE PPVs ever conceived, WWE Hell In Cell 2019… and also the Fingerpoke Of Doom is touched upon. Bare with it or skip ahead to the forty-three minute mark so you can listen to me talk about xxx, xxx, and xxx, before ending the episode with the semi-traditional Q&A segment. My brain hurt after recording this show, but fortunately, I never have to revisit anything this vile ever again.
For curious parties, my original WWE Bullshit In A Cell 2019 musings can be found here. Some salty wording to be found here, so be warned.
TNA Impact (Oct. 3rd, 2024) – Best of Bound For Glory In The 2020s
Hey, where’s Joe Hendry?
He’s not on the show; therefore, no Joe Hendry.
TNA was supposed to hold tapings, but then the hurricane kick and those tapings were cancelled. So last Thursday gave us a best of Bound For Glory show… although it’s mostly best of Bound For Glory from the past couple years, highlighting the current talent in TNA and pretty much attempting to tie it back to the current happenings now.
For what it is, it’s a more than adequate Best Of show. Given that this was a last-minute deal, I thought it was fine. I’m not sure if “Best Of” is the right moniker for something like this considering I’ve seen better Bound For Glory matches, but then again, that would involve talent no longer with the company. So in retrospect, this is just fine.
For those wondering, the matches featured were:
X-Division Championship Match
Mike Bailey (c) vs. Frankie Kazarian
Bound for Glory 2022
Call Your Shot Gauntlet Match
Bound for Glory 2021
Knockouts World Championship Match
Jordynne Grace (c) vs. Masha Slamovich
Bound for Glory 2022
Monster’s Ball Match
PCO vs. Moose vs. Rhino vs. Steve Maclin
Bound for Glory 2023
World Championship Match
Josh Alexander (c) vs. Eddie Edwards
Bound for Glory 2022
Anyway, that’s it. If you know how to help and want to do so, do so.
Review #1105 – Demon Attack (Atari 8-Bit)
The demons are attacking… again.
Hurricanes, Impacts, And Other Bits And Bobs
To anyone affected by the Hurricane Helene, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I wish I could offer more, but this is all I have. Other people has means of helping.
Naturally, there was no Impact show last night due to TNA cancelling tapings in the area; instead, they aired a Best Of Bound For Glory show. I have it on DVR; I might give it a watch as an aside, but not expecting much.
Apparently, WWE’s Bad Blood PPV is this weekend, featuring CM Punk and Drew McIntyre going at it in a Cell of some kind. Also, Cody and Roman will team up against Solo and one of the Fatu boys. If I’ve got absolutely nothing better to do, I might give this a watch, but don’t expect a musings of any kind unless I’ve got nothing better to do… that sounds more convoluted than it should be.
AEW and WBD signed a new five year deal. Rampage is no longer a thing and PPVs will now be on MAX for discounted prices to MAX subscribers. Meanwhile, there’s a Wrestledream show in a couple weeks featuring Danielson and Mox going at it. Not watching it live, but if a certain someone decides to show up, the replay might be worth pursuing.
And of course, there’s the Bound For Glory show at the end of the month. There might be a surprise or two on the short stretch of PPV Musings in the last couple months of 2024, but nothing out of the ordinary. We’ll see.
In non-wrestling related news, I did a head count on my game collection listing and apparently, I’m about forty games away from hitting the big 2,000. Never did I think that I would hit that many games over a decade ago when I hit 1,000 and I figured… “Yeah, this is enough.” I want to say that once I hit 2,000, that’ll be enough… but now I know better. It’s like the old saying, “Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.”
Also, the dog is sleeping. She rarely sleeps. It’s amazing.
Speaking of which… I’m going to bed.
New video later.
Bye.
Review #1104 – Dark Chambers (Atari 7800)
Who are you to doubt El Dark Chambers?
