Atari Acquires Intellivision Brand And Rights To 200+ Titles

So I guess Amicovision is no longer a thing. A pity. I was looking forward to such cool jaw-dropping classics like Cornhole or Finnegan Fox.

(Yes, I already know about Fox N’ Forests. That didn’t make my jaw drop to the floor or anything, but I digress.)

In all serious, the most I’m hoping out of this deal is that we get the Intellivision equivalent of an Atari 50 compilation. Not so much for the games, but more for the historical overview so people could about the brand beyond something that was prostituted to sell a bill of goods.

On an unrelated note… can Atari buy Coleco next?

*Yes, I already know about Fox N Forests. It didn’t make my jaw drop.

Twenty Five Years To The Day…

Twenty five years.

Two and a half decades.
It seems like an eternity ago.
And yet I remember it like it was yesterday.
I remember the day when the news broke. I watched it on TV.
The moment that wrestling broke from its bubble and became deadly real.
The moment when everything came to a stop and froze.
I remember the day Owen Hart died.
I can never forget that day.
Much as I try, it could never happen.
I could never go back to that day.
It just feels… wrong.
My time with Owen was short.
But it was memorable.
Even if it was distances apart.
And when I go back and watch Owen in better days…
It reminds me of how much I missed out…
And also of how much the world misses out today…
Perhaps nothing I offer will provide ample tribute.
But sometimes a simple “Thank You” will suffice.
You’re missed by many, Owen.
And we all thank you.

AEW Double Or Nothing 2023

Posting this on a Tuesday rather than the usual Wednesday just to get it out of the way and since it was done, there’s no real reason to keep it in the backburner when there’s other stuff coming up.

So, for those who didn’t catch the last Dynamite musings, I’ve decided to skip out on this year’s Double Or Nothing. Current TV isn’t doing it for me, the card itself isn’t getting me excited, and the nWo tribute act that the Elite is playing out… it might be working for some people, but it’s not working for me, brother.

So instead of this year’s show, we’re looking at last year’s show, which I only got around to watching recently. And once July hits, there’ll be weekly musings of all the PPVs I missed this past year. After that… who knows? Maybe I’ll do some TNA stuff until Summerslam hits. But that is then… this is now… or rather this is also then… but the other way…

Never mind… let’s just dive in and see if I missed out on anything by skipping this show last year.

About Adrian Carr’s “Day Of The Dumpster” Director’s Cut

Source: https://morphinlegacy.com/2024/05/mighty-morphin-power-rangers-day-of-the-dumpster-original-cut-released/

For those who missed it, Adrian Carr – director of a number of early Mighty Morphin Power Rangers episodes, including the first – had recently released his original cut of “Day Of The Dumpster.” And it’s an interesting curiosity piece if nothing else that includes a new Youth Center scene (that was only seen once ages ago at one of the very first Power Morphicons), a different morphing sequence, and even a different Megazord battle featuring a monster that wouldn’t make a “proper” appearance on the show until one of the later episodes.

It’s an interesting piece of business that serves as that middle step between the original pilot episode and the eventual final product… and if nothing else, any time there is new footage released that hasn’t been seen before is always something to be cherished. The bit in question may have been seen at a convention ages ago, but now many more can check this out. It’s worth a look to see what could have been.

Impact (May 16th, 2024) – The Champions’ Challenge Match

This past Thursday’s edition of Impact was all about the Champions’ Challenge match; a massive 16-person tag-team match pitting all the current TNA champions against their potential or would-be challengers. And wouldn’t you know it? Joe Hendry is one of those potential challengers, which means his lovely mug stays on the banner.

So it’s a big 8-on-8 tag team match, 20 minutes of moves and stuff, and  eventually, Mustafa Ali – your reigning X-Division champ whom nobody likes because nobody tags him – decides to fuck off and leave his fellow champions hanging. Hey, what do you want the guy to do? If you ain’t gonna tag him, why bother sticking around? So, long story short, Joe Hendry scored the winning pinfall for his team because Joe Hendry is amazing and the world believes in Joe Hendry… unless you’re Tony Khan. Otherwise, he would have stolen Joe Hendry from TNA ages ago when he had the chance… and he didn’t. His loss; Joe Hendry would’ve solved AEW’s ratings woes right then and there, but instead, he’s in TNA keeping that company relevant.

And then PCO came and gave Steph De Lander a flower… because sure, why not?

The rest of the show… well, I’ll be honest. I pretty much skimmed through most of it just so I can watch the Champion Challenge match, which I hope they don’t beat into the ground every couple weeks or something. Save it for big occasions. I will note that both this and the last show had a good interview segment with Mike Santana talking about time away from TNA and his family and stuff. It’s touching, endearing stuff that gives Santana some much-needed character work that he probably didn’t get during his last days in AEW. I liked that bit.

Quick note: I’ll be doing one more episode of Impact musings before I put this series to be for a brief bit. Next month has a bunch of other stuff going on and I’d much rather focus on that with what little time I’ve got coming up.

AEW Dynamite (May 15th, 2024) – Jumping Off Point

The saga of All Elite Wrestling being run by the Elite continues with this week’s episode of Dynamite and apparently, news broke that Eddie Kingston may have suffered an injury during a New Japan show last week and his status for the show is as questionable as my waning interest in the current direction of this promotion. This show continues to confound me and… well, you know what? I’ll save my thoughts for after the break, because there’s also a bit of an announcement regarding future content as it relates to the wrestling side of things.
