Yes, I bought a DVD copy of LOTWD.
I found a copy at Walmart for cheap, so it made sense. And yes, I will share my thoughts on the film eventually… and I will be fair. If it turns out good, I will say as much. If it turns out bad, I will also say as much. Neither past biases nor the man’s death is going to affect the eventual “review” when it comes around.
Either way, JDF diehards have already seen this and canonized this. Nothing I say will or should change their opinion on the film. If you liked it, great. I’m not going to convince you otherwise. But I’m also not going to give this thing a free pass because of the circumstances. That does not mean I intend to “hate-watch” this movie or whatever the stupid term is. If I watch, I expect to enjoy it. If I know that I’m going to hate something, I wouldn’t bother.
I feel like I shouldn’t have to say this every time I go into something featuring a celebrity individual for whom I’ve had mixed feelings on, especially one who has passed on… but you know how people are these days. Anyone with a Twitter/X/BlueSky/Mastadon/Whatever social media account has the brain of a dehydrated BB.
But yeah… I’ll probably watch the movie some time this week. I’ll gather some thoughts and eventually, what will be marked as a “movie review” of sorts will eventually be posted.
