When last we saw our heroes, they were being overwhelmed by a new villain that’s a rehash of an old villain in Rita Rabiosa and one of their own has seemingly decided to set their communicator on Do Not Disturb, hence why they’re not answering the call. Also, I had a lot more questions than I had answers and was hoping that this issue would at least fill in some holes that desperately needed filling.
Well, about that…
Well, the good news is that we know a little more about our new Rita, who is out for revenge over the loss of her loved ones at the hands of the Rangers. Which loved ones is she referring to? Who knows? But it’s something we can work from and it’s something that ties to one of the Rangers themselves. I like that the Rangers begin thinking like adults and applying their more current skillsets to use; a little bit of evolution. And while the current situation is resolved rather quickly – not that I’m complaining – it does
On the other hand, though, we know little about the Rangers at this stage in their lives beyond the brief nuggets we’re given. Where are they all at? What are they doing? More into the civilian lives would be appreciated for the future. I’m also still, largely, uneven with the art, though a couple full-page images here and there do look rather nice. I’ll give them that much. And of course, what’s going on with Tommy?
For what it’s worth, I found myself enjoying this one issue more than the first one and we’ve got some pieces to work with going forward. That said, I do find the slow drip of plot per issue to be a bit tiresome and unless something major happens, the next issue may be my last. Still, MMPR (2026) has my attention and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next. That’s hardly small praise these days; especially in regards to Boom’s MMPR output.
As soon as I get the chance, I’ll give the Green series a look and share my thoughts here. Until then…
