This Will Probably Age Poorly… But I’ll Say It Anyway…

I didn’t mind Identity Crisis… at least, not right now.

There’s a clear intent in trying to add a bit of ambiguity into the DC Superhero community by giving us a murder mystery and possibly making one of the heroes the potential culprit. And yes, there’s quite a bit of status quo shifting with some characters getting killed off and some heel turns being made. Revelations of all sorts made that put a damper on things. I can imagine some folks being upset at the events in this mini, but sometimes, you need to take things to a dark turn before seeing the light. Bring the heroes to their darkest moment before emerging with newfound hope.

Here’s the thing. DC hasn’t been putting out the most exciting product as of late. This is, at the very least, something different from the usual norm. Would I want this to be the new standard for event comics in DC? No, I’d be fine with something like Infinite Crisis where it’s mostly action with some reminders that we’re trying to tell a story here… or fix a continuity that didn’t need fixing, but I guess we do because some folks have a hard-on for a long abandoned continuity from decades past.

I understand the intent here… I just don’t agree with it…

Wouldn’t be the first time…
