IMPACT (July 4th, 2024) – Happy Independence Day
Around these parts, we still believe in Joe Hendry… even if NXT management doesn’t… so his mug stays on the banner.
After all, what scream AMERICA better than Joe Hendry?
Kurt Angle?
Okay… maybe… but he’s not as good as Joe Hendry.
It says so in the song…
Okay, I’ll stop now.

AEW Dynamite (July 3rd, 2024) – I Guess Chicago Is Not Swerve’s House
It’s the Forbidden Door post-show edition of Dynamite and it also happens to be the first episode of Dynamite (or any semblance of AEW – TV or PPV) I’ve watched since May. And yes, we’re sticking with the TK Neckbrace banner for now… because it amuses me.
But did this show amuse me?

THE BITE COMMENTARY #04 – My Disenchantment With Modern Video Gaming
Every once in a while, I am often asked why I don’t delve into modern video gaming stuff. Whether it’d be playing the current games, following the current trends, or just trying to keep up with all the current happenings in the modern video gaming scene, there seems to be the occasional inquiry about why I lean more towards classic/retro/vintage/ancient video games from decades ago.
It typically boils down to two things:
A) I prefer the older shit. Not just with video games, but a lot of entertainment media in general, whether it’d be movies, comics, television, or whatnot.
B) I genuinely, honestly don’t give a shit about the current scene.
A lot of point B stems from a lack of interest in what’s available on the market that’s considered the standard offering. Your so-called AAA offerings that are high in production values, marketing bollocks, and other such things. A lot of that stuff simply doesn’t interest me enough to fork over money and on the few occasions that I do dive into the modern scene, it’s only for a fleeting moment before I go back to something old and ancient that keeps my attention for a little longer.
But another part of point B also stems from the fact that… well, let’s be honest. The current gaming scene is a bit of a mess… and I’m not sure that I’d want to be part of that in any way, shape, or form.

Review #1079 – Hatris (Game Boy)
It’s like Tetris… but with hats.
Also, you should probably play Tetris instead…
Cold Ronda’s Writing A Comic… No Thanks.
Former UFC and WWE Diva Ronda Rousey announced that she’s doing a graphic novel about a hired gun who pretends to be knocked up, only to eventually be knocked up and pregnant. And of course, said hired gun is modeled after Ronda herself, because of course it is.
While I’m sure that this is going to be on par with the Kevin Nash comic book from ages ago, I have no interest in giving this comic a look. Anything that actually involved giving Cold Ronda any of my money so she can start talking shit about people who thinks she sucks and use the “if it were a guy, you wouldn’t say it sucked” argument… which doesn’t work here because I compared her would-be project to the Nash comic, which was also wildly imaginative and shit… and that’s being generous.
Best of luck to her on the project, hope it works out for her, but… no buys for me. Sorry.

Did this sink your battleship?
BOOK REVIEW – Doom Guy: Life in First Person (2023)
So I recently came across John Romero’s autobiographical book called Doom Guy: Life In First Person. The book delves into the obvious talking points; Romero’s early career, the formation of id Software and the subsequent creation of the many landmark games produced, his later career, and other things. There’s also the personal side of things that make the autobiographical stuff worthwhile; his upbringing, his view on things today, stuff like that. That stuff… well, your mileage is going to vary on that stuff, but the insights into the gaming stuff is what sold me on this book.
This is a better book than I was expecting. Part of it has to due with Romero possessing such keen insight and recollection of past events that very few people have. Oftentimes, whenever someone is pressed on past events, they’ll either provide a fuzzy recollection or they claim that they simply don’t recall. Romero doesn’t have that problem. Everything is written and retold with such detail that it’s almost as though he’s been writing this book his entire life. The only other book I could think that comes across as similar is the Bret Hart bio from ages ago.
Is there a possibility of some things being embellished or perhaps told from a certain point of view? Always, but that’s always the case with these things. I’ve read bios that were completely full of shit from page 1. I didn’t get that case here. I got Romero’s side of the story, it felt genuine, it felt like it came from the heart. And for what it’s worth, I’m on my fourth reading of the book. I don’t say that often for something I’ve read fairly recently.
All in all, Doom Guy gets a thumbs up from me. Tremendous read. Well worth checking out.
Review #1077 – Tetris Blast (Game Boy)
A bliss of bombs that’s a blast. In standard definition… they still call it that, right?
Yes, I’m being generous and posting this earlier than usual. Happy Canada Day.

First 30 minutes is me catching up on wrestling stuff, then it’s reminiscing about the closing of my old gaming source, Netflix dropping out of the Power Rangers reboot game, and Nintendo Direct… along with a couple other things tacked on for good measure.
