AEW Full Gear 2023

Remember the good ol’ days of Being The Elite, when Full Gear was a running gag referring to Hangman Page roaming about in his gear until someone asked him why the fuck was he in full gear? So he decided to go on the “Full Gear Challenge” to whip himself into shape or something? Those were the days.

What does that have to do with this Full Gear 2023 PPV? Probably nothing. I just needed an excuse to bring that particular image back because it evokes so many warm, fuzzy memories… and let me tell you something; warm, fuzzy feelings is precisely what I’m not feeling with this PPV… which explains why I skipped it… but here we are. Better late than never, I suppose. Or is it?

Let’s find out, shall we?

2000 Games By 2025?

Took a trip to a local store that sells retro game stuff… first time I came across this place and probably the last time I’ll be stepping foot in person. A bit of a shame, because it’s a nice looking place, got quite a bit of haul, and the people there are quite nice… but the parking in the area is quite shit and on top of that, this is near one of the major roads in Montreal and that road seems to be in a constant state of being under construction.

Gamecube Has Achievements… But Only In Emulation. (So It Really Doesn’t.)

Source: Time Extension article

So the Dolphin emulator – that thing that lets you play Gamecube and Wii games on computers and other things – has introduced an update that adds achievements to Gamecube games. So you can earn little “trophies” or “achievements” in Gamecube games much in the same way you can Steam, Xbox, and PS titles. Good for those who emulate this stuff, but kinda useless for those who play actual hardware, which is quite a few people, still.

I don’t know; I’ve never cared for achievements in the first place. There’s a nice optional thing to have and give the player some extra incentive, but beyond that, it’s not like you get anything worth a damn for achieving these feats in the first place. Still, if you care for such things and you emulate Gamecube, this might be worth pursuing until Nintendo comes along and extinguishes all the dolphins on Earth or something.

Gimmick Tables are delayed a week. Stuff came up recently and I’ve not gone ’round to ’em yet. But the reviews are on schedule, at least.

AEW Dynamite (July 10th, 2024) – Am I Really Supposed To Be Excited About This?

Taking A Week Off

Hey, folks. Just let you all know that I’m going to be taking the next week off of life and that means no videos during that time. It wouldn’t be a silent week as I’ve prepped several written posts that will be up during the week, including another PPV Musings and a fun little story that I’ve whipped up on a whim.

Today’s scheduled Power Blade 2 review will be pushed back to next Friday and the week after, all the TMNT-related reviews planned for the month will dumped out the week after a five-day marathon of sorts. And then hopefully after that, we’ll end July and kickstart August with the PC Engine Star Soldier games that have been lingering on the bucket list since the dawn of time. I’ll get around to updating the list on the State Of The Blog page when I have a good idea on where things are going video-wise, but that’ll be the plan for the moment.

This is time I needed to take for a while and although I’m not thrilled at dropping the video aspect of things for the time being, at the very least, the blog will see regular updates here and there. Trust me; this’ll be a good thing in the long run.

And yes… I still miss the old girl.

Michael Cole Explains VHS To Da Kids

So let me just say that I am fairly vocal in my dislike for the Bray Wyatt stuff. Creative guy, sure, but the execution was largely bad. And so when it comes to the Bray Wyatt Tribute Band, my hopes aren’t particularly high in this regard.

That having been said, should this start to fall apart, the only good thing I can take out of this is at the 2:28 mark, where Michael Cole, who’s hip with the youngsters, explain to said kids what a “V.H.S. tape” is. Next week, he should explain stuff like Betamax and 8-Tracks.

AEW Wrestle Dream 2023

There was a WWE PPV this weekend… I didn’t watch it. Had stuff to do.

Instead, you’re getting musings for a bunch of AEW PPVs from last year that I originally skipped out on for reasons. A friend was kind of enough to loan me his DVD recordings of the shows I missed and I ended up doing musings for the shows. That’ll be this month’s output and we’ll see where things pop up in August.

So we begin with the first ever WrestleDream PPV, named in honor of the late Antonio Inoki; of which Tony Khan is such a huge fan of, he dons a similar looking red scarf to the one that Inoki-san used to wear. Aside from that, it is a show that I missed the first time because I did not want to watch more than my fair share of AEW PPVS… or something. I don’t recall. I don’t remember. Most importantly, I don’t care. We’re here and… well… let’s begin…
