Radio Silence…

I’ll be off for a couple weeks in terms of video content, which should resume on Labor Day weekend, coincidentally that’s when the next episode of the DTM-Cast will be up.

As far as regular postings go… PPV Musings will resume because those are in the can, but anything else that pops up… will actually pop up.

Enjoy the rest of summer… or something.

Later.

New Halloween And Evil Dead Games Are… Oh Wait…

Retro-themed Halloween and Evil Dead games are coming in October… and then I saw the trailer. I want to be positive about this. I missed out on the other Evil Dead game that came out a while back and I’m wanting to go for another one… but this trailer doesn’t instill much confidence.

Not that I don’t think the games will be bad or anything; they’re being developed by WayForward and they typically put out good stuff. But the whole thing comes across as fairly interchangeable and generic. There’s supposed to be a crossover element if you buy both games, which sort of harkens to Pokemon and its linkage, but all this does is remind me of that whole Ninjabread Man/Anubis II/Rock N’ Roll Adventures scenario on Wii where it’s basically the same game under the hood, but they just swapped out the graphics. I hate to think that’s actually the case here, but it looks to be very likely.

I’m honestly not so sure about these. Maybe as more is revealed, I’ll change my tune a bit, but right now, I’m not exactly sold on these things. If anything, it’s just making me want to go back and play that other Evil Dead game I’ve got on Xbox that isn’t Regeneration. As a matter of fact… I may be long overdue.

THE BITE COMMENTARY #05 – John Luck Picard And The Taint Of Sour Mead

It was six years ago that the announcement was made that Sir Patrick Stewart would be returning to the role that made him a household name – Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the USS Enterprise – in a new series bearing the character’s name. There was excitement en masse that the new regime of Star Trek would be returning to the world they remembered.

My reaction to the news was cautious optimism.

20 Years Ago… A Record That May Never Be Broken

So… to sort of segueway to something that has nothing to do with me… on this day, 20 years ago, WWE Summerslam 2004, emanating from the then-Air Canada Center in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, saw Randy Orton defeat then-World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit to win his first World championship at the age of 24 years old, making him the youngest World Heavyweight Champion in WWE history. He beat out Brock Lesnar, who, two years previous, defeated the Rock at Summerslam 2002 to win the then-undisputed WWE Championship at the age of 25. Before that, it was a three-way tie between Rock, Yokozuna, and the Undertaker, whom each won their first WWF titles at the age of 26. Lesnar remains the youngest superstar to hold the original WWE Championship dating back to 1963, which comprises 1/2 of the current Undisputed WWE Championship, currently held by Cody Rhodes.

Birthday And Stuff…

Welp… it’s that time of year where I am a year older than I was last year.

This is where people will start wishing me a happy birthday and I’d be polite about it.

I’d like to be able to say that I’m excited… but I’m not.

I don’t recall the last time I had anything resembling a “happy” birthday. Has to have been decades ago. Instead, I merely have a birthday – neither happy or otherwise. It’s a day that exists to get out of the way and move on with my life. There’s a get-together over the weekend, gifts are received, cake is offered along with some sort of meal, and then I spend the rest of the night taking a dump because something I ate made me sick.

As to what I’m doing today… well, I’ll be working. I’ll be going home afterwards. And after who knows what, I’ll be going to bed… in other words, business as usual.

And you know what? I am perfectly fine with that.

Best to get it out of the way and not fret about this.

So, that was completely morose and depressing… I’ll think of something else to post later.

AEW Dynasty 2024

April 21st, 2024 saw another AEW Pay-Per-View event added to the annual AEW PPV cycle and naturally, I didn’t get the show.

Yeah… sorry, folks. I was fine with four a month and while it was a total pipe dream for them to keep at like that until the end of time, I kinda held out hope. Now I don’t bother getting them live and I wait for a friend to loan me his recordings of the shows months after the fact… because we still record stuff to DVD-R to this day and will undoubtedly continue to do this until our DVD recorders eventually die out… I may have jinxed this entire operation, haven’t I?

Anyway, as of this moment, there’s only two other shows I’ve not seen; the Double Or Nothing show and Forbidden Door, but we’ll be doing something else next week. In the meantime, here’s the Dynasty musings… maybe next year, they can do Dallas as a PPV name… no?

Yes, I Saw Deadpool & Wolverine.

I won’t go into the nitty-gritty of things because that involves touching on things that the rest of the internet might have spoiled, but I’d rather let those who haven’t spoiled discover the fun stuff for themselves. But I will say this much; it is very much a Deadpool movie with the usual Deadpool tropes mixed in with some bad cop/bad cop dynamics between Wade and Logan. Even though there’s some hints of MCU stuff that I don’t care for, they’re not the dominant aspects of this film. And thank fuck for that because I want to watch a movie that’s actually content at being a fun ride and not world-building nonsense for the next three series that I could possibly not give enough of a shit to watch.

And before anyone asks, no, I will not be watching. This is the first Marvel thing I’ve seen since Falcon/Winter Soldier. I’ve not touched anything else. I’m not inclined to watch anything else. Naturally, I was concerned that this would be tainted and toned down. It hasn’t; it’s still the same Deadpool goodness because Ryan Reynolds and friends give enough of a shit about this character to do him justice and continue to make him the best possible interpretation of the character in modern media.

This isn’t Marvel Jesus. This isn’t going to make me care about anything involving the other Marvel stuff or their Multiversal phasing stuff. I’m not exactly clamoring for any other potential projects that this might be teasing. And this sure as shit isn’t going to make the MCU great or even good again. It is, however, a largely fun and enjoyable movie that, if you can put up with a little crass humor and lots of gratuitous violence, is not a bad way to kill a couple hours at the movie house.

At the end of the day, I just want to have a good time at the movies. This gave me that. And if I had more movies like this, I’d spend more time and money at the movies. But I don’t have those. So I don’t go. And that’s fine. I’ve got other stuff to keep me entertained.

So yeah, if you liked the first two Deadpools, give this one a whirl. And if not… watch something else, instead.
