Mega Man Maker – Wily Challenge 2018-10-27

Made another Wily Challenge playthrough… once again going short, but sticking with Hard difficulty that limits you to five tries maximum. This one has some text commentary this time around, so there’s some semblance of “production” on this level.

Music Credits:
Wally Chantek – Volt Catfish [NES 2A03]
Rushjet1 – Air Man (MM2GB), Stress (Adventures of the 2A03)
Mathew Valente – Mega Man 10 Victory NSF File

Rerez. Tallarico. Intellivision. No Plimpton.

So the folks at Rerez did an interview with longtime video game composer, Electric Playground co-host, Video Games Live guy, and current Intellivision head honcho Tommy Tallarico to discuss Intellivision’s upcoming Amico console that’s due to be released in the year 2020. It’s a rather good interview that covers most of the bases and concerns that some might have regarding the console. Hence, why I opted to post it here on this blog.

I’ll provide my own thoughts and feelings on the project somewhere down the line, but the interview got me intrigued enough to follow its progress. In short, these guys seem to know what they’re doing and that’s a good sign to any product’s success and longevity.

So About Those ATGames Blast Things…

So sometime ago, the Immortal John Hancock reviews one of these Blast things – the HDMI sticks that has built-in games and wireless Mega Drive controllers – and the version had featured a number of Namco arcade games. However, it turns out that this version was never intended for retail purchase and what people in stores got instead when buying these things were the lesser NES versions, with even lesser emulation quality. From the few videos I’ve seen, the sounds seemed a bit lower pitch and the framerate wasn’t quite up there.

I haven’t seen these things in stores myself; lessons learned from the Genesis Flashback not selling gangbusters, I suppose. Even the usual flea market outings are content not touching these and sticking with the much older Genesis plug-and-play things and bootleg NES and Super NES mini consoles. But yeah… featuring arcade screenshots on your box and including inferior ports on the actual hardware? Pretty scummy move. Even the casual shopper picking this up as an impulse buy would be smart enough to put two and two together and realize that one does not look like the other.

Don’t get me wrong; the NES versions aren’t generally too bad contrary to what most folks will tell you. But when people expect arcade emulation and you don’t deliver, that doesn’t exactly help your already tattered street cred.

A shame, really. But I suppose it’s just another day in the office for ATGames.

TNA Against All Odds 2005

A bit of a change of pace in this TNA marathon of sorts, as I diverge from the Global network thing and dive into my DVD collection, where I pull out a 2-disc DVD set of TNA Against All Odds 2005. Don’t get excited; they just split the PPV into two discs and so you have to swap discs halfway through because… sure, why not?

On a related note, I’ve yet to watch the Bound For Glory PPV… I’ve heard good things about it, though. Maybe when it’s on the Global Network thing, I’ll give it a watch. Who knows?

But What About Vince?

So that we got the emotional mumbo-jumbo out of the way, let’s get back to pointless and incoherent ramblings in written form.

With Roman Reigns’ extended absence due to leukemia treatments basically opening up the top draw spot, I’m pretty sure Vince McMahon, who has spent years trying to push this guy over as a top star that people will like at the detriment of others that people actually do like and not quite achieving much success, is probably thinking the following going forward:

OH FUCK.

OH FUCK OH FUCK OH FUCK!

OH FUCK OH FUCK OH FUCK OH FUCK OH FUCK!

Not to make light of a serious situation, because leukemia is no joke, but I do feel that with Reigns gone for a good long while – treatments supposedly take a couple years – Vince is probably panicking to find someone to take the spot because the one guy he pushed above all others is out for a while. Oh well, at least he’s got the Fox deal and that sweet, sweet Saudi money for that one PPV that nobody wants to watch.

Or something.

Best Of Luck, Joe

You’ve lived with it for a long time.
You’ve kept fighting with it.
You’ve endured everything that was thrown at you.
And you’ve never let up.

For all the vitriol that Roman Reigns the wrestler gets,
the fact that he’s done it all while fighting a horrible disease…
you can’t help but tip your hat to Joe Anoa’i the man.

All the best, Joe.
Hope you beat this thing and come back soon.
Better than ever.
