Luke Perry & King Kong Bundy

News broke that Luke Perry, he of Beverly Hills 90210 fame, passed away yesterday after suffering a massive stroke some time prior. While I was never a follower or viewer of 90210, Luke Perry is one of those names you heard a lot about back in the day because he was one of those heartthrob types that all the ladies went crazy for. He always seemed like a chill dude and to hear of his passing, it feels like another step towards old age and senility.

And then news broke that King Kong Bundy passed away… the big mountain of a man who was a very imposing and very intimidating man that used his massive girth as a weapon, notably involved in the first two Wrestlemanias with the “9-second win” over SD Jones and the Cage match with Hulk Hogan, but had a sizable – no pun intended – career in Midsouth and World Class. Another sign that the end is near for most of us old people.

My thoughts and prayers to their families.

Godspeed.

New Pokemon Generation? Not For Me.

So, for those who missed the news, the next generation of Pokemon games, dubbed Sword and Shield, will be hitting the Nintendo Switch this year and this is certainly going to excite the diehard Pokemon fans who are into the franchise and stuck with it for so long.

Naturally, I’m not one of those people. My only experience with Pokemon was the first generation on Game Boy. Red, Blue, and Yellow. I’ve seen some of the anime, saw the First Movie, and even dabbled in that Pokemon Go game that was a hit a year or so ago.

After that first generation, I sort of drifted away from the franchise and when I peek back in, there’s suddenly hundreds of Pokemon in the litter and too much information to digest. Not only are there new generation games, but there are also remakes of the older generation titles on stronger hardware and now Pikachu’s a detective and… what the hell is going here?

For the younger folks and for those with way too much time on their hands who can invest themselves into learning the intricacies of all these various incarnations and whatnots, more power to you. It’s great to see a franchise last for two decades and still go pretty strong. Pokemon in its current form might not be my cup of tea, but for those who enjoy it, I hope this next wave turns out well and becomes as much of a hit as its predecessors.

Cheers.

Mega Man Maker Level – MTM02 – Reduxion Remix

This level – the second MarathonMan level – was done in a day, basically recycles bits and bobs from actual MM levels, and even some of my other stuff. It’s a long level with only two checkpoints, but really emphasizes the marathon mentality. There’s a couple tricky bits, but you should be fine. All three heroes are playable and work within the level just fine.

On a sidenote, I enjoyed the editing in this sampler video, where the in-game music determines the cuts and transitions. It’s sometimes nice to do a smooth little edited thing every once in a while.

Mega Man Maker Level – MTM01 – Ancient Mega Man (Sampler Video)

The silent launch of Marathonman begins with a level inspired by the hidden Mega Man a minigame from one of the Mega Man ZX games. I’ve had to rebuild this level when I discovered that you can’t upload a level started under another name… hence the long delay of Marathonman levels.

In lieu of showcasing the whole level, I offer five minutes of sampler footage showing off bits of the level, which can be played with either Mega Man or Proto Man.

Mega Man Maker – Wily Challenge 2019-03-02

Another short Wily Challenge… and yes, it’s two times the fun for one particular level; an obvious shortcoming of the random nature of Wily Challenge.

In other news, I’m uploading a couple levels. One to the usual account, but also the other to Marathonman… which is finally taking shape. I may also concoct another channel down the line for when the eventual first channel reaches its maximum quota.
