Power Rangers Reflections Redux #19 – Time For Lightspeed

The annual tradition of the current season’s Ranger team teaming up with the previous season’s Ranger team was something of a regular staple in Super Sentai shows starring with xxx/xxx. Once Power Rangers opted for an approach more akin to Super Sentai – individual seasons would breed new teams and powers based on an appropriate Sentai – it was only a matter of time

Time For Lightspeed, the Time Force/Lightspeed Rescue crossover, isn’t quite the memorable episode as what came before, nor is it as good as it could’ve been. The big issue with this crossover is that it only lasts a single episode, which already cripples whatever storytelling you have and forces you to cram in as much as possible. Even the tenth anniversary episode Forever Red, as good and gratifying as it was, was hampered by a single episode run.

But let’s not dwaddle…

Greatly Considering Re-Doing The Old Ramblemanias

So, we’re about a month away from the next edition of Mania and I have been considering re-doing all the old Ramblemanias from before whenever I decided the shows a proper musings as opposed to quick insights. Actually, this was something that I have been considering for a couple years now, but wasn’t quite sure on how to approach this. Do I go back and re-edit all the old posts with new, expanded thoughts while trying to keep the present tense out of it or do I present new posts that are easier to access, but by proxy, giving me new drafts to replace?

Go to the Wrestling Documents and click on any Ramblemania post before 25 or 26; each one of those entries features a brief blurb on my thoughts regarding the event followed by a complete list of match results; most of them having been taken from the old Tripod blog. Suffice it to say; they hold up about as well as reposting PPV Predictions for shows that took place well over a decade ago.
The truth is that I’ve wanting any excuse to go back and re-watch all the old Wrestlemanias again. The problem is that I’ve seen those shows who knows how many times; I have the VHS tapes to prove it and the WWE Network offers a treasure trove of shows that I’ve never seen before or completely missed out on. Maybe if I give myself something to document these viewings…?
Ultimately, I might not even bother with this for the moment… and besides, this year’s Mania might actually be worth a damn if the story plays out well… but if that doesn’t happen… there’s always the old ones.

This Paints A Grim Picture

I don’t remember where I found this image; probably a message board somewhere, but when you look at that image and the information it reveals… it paints a pretty grim picture in regards to the current state of Star Wars gaming.

The truly sad thing? For all the arguments made regarding “quantity over quality”, a good chunk of the quantity above actually ended up being quality products while the two games below… well, neither quality or quantity qualify in any regard.

I guess I found something to ramble about.

WCW Capital Combat 1990

Seriously, the banner says it all.

This whole show was built around one thing; Robocop making his first (and to date, ONLY) wrestling appearance. I’m sure the actual show will not live up to the hype and legend that has been inflated by internet lore, but fuck it, I want to watch this one regardless. I mean, what could possibly go wrong?

Aside from everything, of course…
