Mega Man Powered Up – Small In Japan

A bit of a treat… a video of my custom “Small In Japan” level from the PSP release, Mega Man Powered Up. Sadly, it’s not the original version as it’s seen some changes here and there to make it more playable, but it’s a nice little comparison between this and the more recent Mega Man Maker iteration, which you can sample a couple videos back.

Video was recorded off the PPSSPP emulator program, which does a far better job of capturing and rendering PSP footage than Sony’s crappy component TV cable thing does. But I don’t know; what do you folks think?

Mega Man Maker Level: DTM13 – Acidic Riverforce (277614)

The custom tune by Wally Chantek (as well as the name of the level) should be a clue as to the inspiration for this mostly action-based level with some mild platforming bits and side routes. Probably the most fun level I’ve had putting together into a little video.

Mega Man Maker Level: DTM12 – Small In Japan (277529)

Based on an old custom level that I whipped together for Mega Man Powered Up, the PSP remake of Mega Man 1. Obviously, some details have been altered due to differences in assets… and also, this MMM version is somewhat more playable than the PSP version. Maybe some day, I’ll show off that one if I’m feeling bored.

Mega Man Maker Level: DTM10 – Wily Underworld version 2 (277448)

A re-up of the previous version of Wily Underworld, this one based on Wily 3 and Wily 4 with traces of Wily 2 and using the proper tiles introduced in version 1.4.2.1.

Starts with some familiar layouts and goes into slightly different territory. The boss battle is also somewhat different than usual. Only Mega Man ventures in this level with MM1 weapons and tools, including Magnet Beam.

Mega Man Maker – Wily Challenge 2018-10-27

Made another Wily Challenge playthrough… once again going short, but sticking with Hard difficulty that limits you to five tries maximum. This one has some text commentary this time around, so there’s some semblance of “production” on this level.

Music Credits:
Wally Chantek – Volt Catfish [NES 2A03]
Rushjet1 – Air Man (MM2GB), Stress (Adventures of the 2A03)
Mathew Valente – Mega Man 10 Victory NSF File

Moar Mega Man Maker Stages In A Couple Weeks

I’ve been polishing the next set of Mega Man Maker levels that I’ll be uploading to the server next week. Videos should follow afterwards the following weekend. The levels are straightforward stuff with nothing too off the beaten path… although one is a long little beast.

I’ve also considered doing a second “user” of sorts to serve as the template for a “new” Mega Man campaign of sorts. I’ve got a few ideas to play around with and I’m hoping to get it executed before the year’s up… but then there’s this other stuff I’m toying around with…

Oh man, so much stuff. So little time.
