Right, so this is the last issue that I’m going to do a review on… but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the end of the road for me as far as this latest rehashing of Mighty Morphin is concerned, right?
Right?
Issue 3 is a standalone story that has Kim and Trini going house hunting before settling on a place. Kim is easily irritable due to reasons that involve the latest plot by Rita 2.0, who seems more about emotional manipulation than the usual monster of the week shenanigans. We also get a bit on insight on Kim’s life after gymnastics, which isn’t quite as rosy as one would expect.
So I do like the break from the overall plot with this simple one-shot episode that feels like feeler for the most part, but at the same time, does feel like a bit of progression for Kim considering where she is in life compared to everyone else. The monster introduced at the end is certainly unique and something that could only work in a comics medium without making it too ridiculous. And the art continues to be… a thing that’s there. Not quite the greatest, but I’ve seen worse.
Honestly, not a bad outing… and a good time to bow out of these reviews, but if there’s anything else in this series worth talking about, I’ll be sure to bring it up whenever I can.
