Rebuilding The Megazord

I want to backtrack back to Once And Always, the 30th Anniversary special that aired on Netflix a couple years back. Heard a few people inquiry about how they were able to bring back a bunch of stuff – whether it’d be old powers, old zords, or whatnots. I’d like to offer some simple theories as to how this may be.

Now the question of old powers being lost and then restored has been bounced around since Forever Red. How did these Red Rangers whose powers were either transfered, lost, or destroyed suddenly get their powers back? Was it special magic? Did they undergo a ceremony of sorts or simply go back in time? Or was it simply a matter of rebuilding the things?

At some point, these things are damaged or destroyed. That means they’re gone forever… but why? Why are they gone forever? Why can’t we fix them? Why can’t we rebuild them? Clearly, Andros (Red Space Ranger) had no trouble building another Astro Megaship after the original was destroyed at the end of Lost Galaxy (sorry for spoiling the movie). Why can’t we rebuild the old fleet of Zords? Monetary reasons could be an issue. But all that means is that these things take years to rebuild and then at some point, when we need these things back,

The Dino Megazords were recycled and salvaged to become the Thunder Zords. And those zords were destroyed by Rito Revolto in Ninja Quest. In a Marvel Comic book, those old Zords are salvaged and brought back to life in a storyline that had no resolution. In one of the early Boom Studios miniseries, pieces of old zords are mashed together to create a new one. It’s been shown that we can rebuild these things, but for some reason, fans can’t accept this simple reasoning.

Why? If we can rebuild spaceships, why not zords?

In a time when we’ve seen Star Trek address the restoration of the Galaxy-Class U.S.S. Enterprise 1701-D in working, functional order, why isn’t it possible for Billy Cranston, who owns a tech company, to rebuild his own zords? Likewise, why isn’t it possible for him to build new morphers? I would like to think that even without Zordon, he has enough know-how to do just that. Morphers are devices that were manufactured and constructed. They were crafted once. Why not again?

Then it becomes a question of why not mass produce morphers if we can just build these things from scratch? It’s something that SPD almost teases in that we’ve seen squadrons of Power Rangers under the SPD umbrella. Is that all we have? Could we have more than one set of Power Rangers under SPD? Are there a whole bunch of Rangers that we haven’t seen? Same questions could be said of Time Force; do we really only have one team of Rangers or are those numbers much larger than what television has demonstrated?

And no, I’m not talking about Hyperforce; that’s a different thing altogether. I’m talking about multiple teams of Time Force Rangers. Surely, in a thousand years time, we’ve overcome the (smartly implemented) issue of duplicate powers being a danger and made it possible to mass produce said morphers and power sets. These are things that often get handwaved to move the story forward, but make for more interesting stories. And THIS is where the ancillary licensed material could be used to fill the void, to tell the stories that the television show couldn’t or wouldn’t.

This is stuff that’s been dabbled in fanfiction for decades. Everyone has their theories on the matter. Sometimes, the simplest one makes the most sense.

Just a thought.
