AEW Dynamite (May 27th, 2026) – Double Or Nothing Fallout Boy

Well, it’s the Dynamite after Double Or Nothing and there’s also an hour of Collision that I didn’t watch because the PVR didn’t catch it, which means that I missed the Kris Stat/Hikaru Shida Lights Out main event. Can we not have these 3-hours just be Dynamite and not some weird combination of one show that TSN airs with another hour of whatever. This is reminding me of that Impact/ReAction experiment that TNA tried back in the dark days where they’d have Impact end in the middle of their main event and then people would have to watch another show to see the rest of it. Fuck off with that noise, man.

Anyway, we open with Kevin Knight explaining his reasoning for attacking former champ Darby Allin on his way to the stretcher… oh, yeah, MJF is your new champ, by the way. So he wants another shot at the title, but then Speedball Bailey – whom I’ve recently discovered is actually local talent out of Laval, QC, so I guess I’m supposed to cheer for him – tries to get his ol’ buddy back on the “right” side and Knight goes Dark on Speedball, which no doubt made MVP happy and had him throw a “fuck you Speedball” party that night. Nobody is going to get that.

In other news, Jericho finally got his win over Rick O’Shea – really good match, too – only for Tomasso Ciampa to come in and beat up the former Chris. I guess Jericho is only working with bald guys; that’s going to be interesting. RUSH won a four-way match and then later challenged new champ MJF to a title match, which he would accept for next week… but only because RUSH is marketable and Mark Briscoe is not… well, give MJF credit. He has his priorities straight, whether you agree with them or not.

Brody King – the guy who inspired crowds to chant obscenities towards frozen water or something – got a big win over Claudio to advance in the Owen tournament; a spectacle of two brutes throwing hard blows at each other until one went down. Fun time that was… and Cope and Cage tried to bring back the five-second pose of their prime years – ol’ Adam even saved up a bunch of disposable cameras with flash photography for this occasion – but those dastardly Dogs who used to be Ricky’s geeks have come out to beat up the former E&C and steal the pose for themselves. Did Christian bang their mothers or something? Should be a fun time, I’m looking forward to it.

And also, nobody is going to get that unless you watched the PPV.

There was a brief women’s tag match, Speedball challenged Knight to a match, and there was another Owen match before the recording stopped. So I can’t tell you how much of the good stuff was saved for the back end, but from what I saw… nice to see AEW advance some stuff forward. It’s going to be an interesting ride to whatever the next PPV is going to be… which we will not be touching on because June is going to be our annual wrestling moratorium where no wrestling is touched upon in future posts. If there’s anything of consequence happening, it’ll be touched upon in a return post in July.

As such, this will be the final Dynamite musings for a while, though whether I decide to pick things up again after June is up in the air. I may drop in every so often, but not weekly. And there’s also Scott D’Amore’s Maple Leaf Pro show that’s supposed to debut around that time as well and I might give that a go if there’s anything worth talking about. I’ll probably use the time to catch up on prior MLP events if at all possible. In the meantime, however, when we return from our imposed wrestling exile, the PPV Musings return on Wednesday and we’ll be going through every single Bound For Glory PPV from the very first in 2005 all the way to this year’s event. This will be the only PPV thing I’ll cover for a while, but it should be a fun ride, regardless.

In any event, I think it’s safe to say that All Elite Wrestling has rediscovered whatever mojo they were missing. The numbers might not be at the levels they used to be, but the product they’ve been putting out has been refreshingly entertaining. Are there flaws? Sure, always. But I’ve been enjoying the shows more than I’ve been loathing them and I haven’t felt that way about a wrestling product in a good while. We’ll see how things settle on the road to All In, but until then… take care, be safe, good night, and take good care of your mothers. You never know when a “father of the year” might on the prowl.

Nobody is going to get that, either, are they?

Damn.
