What Comes Next?

In a couple weeks, Revenge Of The Sith brings the prequel trilogy to a close. I’d imagine it being the one where everyone dies, it’s going to be the greatest chapter in the trilogy. I’d imagine this is where everything ramps up to a higher level… I’d imagine Darth Vader plays a prominent role, considering he’s in all the advertising.

No joke… all the promotional material is nothing but THE BIRTH OF DARTH VADER. Wouldn’t it be funny if he only showed up at the end for a couple seconds?

All of this got me to think… once Sith is out of the picture and the prequels are done… where do we go with this thing?

I’d imagine that the sequels would follow… assuming Lucas has any interest in making those films. I can’t imagine how those things would turn out if the prequels were anything to go by, but then again, the prequels were something that people had high expectations for and when they turned out to be different from what was expected… yeah, you shouldn’t be surprised by how many people got burned.

But let’s say the sequels are a thing… are they going to take any of the Expanded Universe stuff into account? Or is Lucas going to toss that all side and tell his own story? Is there even a story to tell after Jedi? Not knocking the Expanded Universe stuff; there’s good stuff in there… but that’s all glorified fanfiction that got the official Star Wars seal of approval. What if George Lucas comes along, decides none of that is canon, and he wants to tell his own story of the Skywalker kids? I’d imagine he would have some ideas.

This is probably nothing. This is probably my mind wandering… but still, it makes you stop and think. Are we really going to stop having Star Wars movies once these prequels are done with? There has to be more to this thing, right?

Right?
