Sunday Gimmick Table #6 – Pixel Player Portable System
The long-awaited, oft-delayed Pixel Player overview!
Well, one of those terms is accurate, at least.
If you’ve seen the GoGamer Portable video I did a year or so ago, you have an idea of what to expect as a result of the extraneous run time. Now in fully upscaled and blurry higher than usual definition.
WWE Elimination Chamber 2019
So in a rare feat by my standards, I actually watched a WWE PPV live. But not the whole show… instead I just sat through the two chamber matches that opened the show and skipped everything else in between. From what I’ve heard, the middle of the card, featuring a couple title changes and Baron Corbin beating Braun Strowman in a no-DQ match, was the drizzling shits. So once that first Chamber match was over, then I took some time editing the Pixel Player gimmick, which should be up sometime tomorrow, barring anything coming up that is beyond my control.
I posted some thoughts on the two chamber matches earlier this week, but just recently, with some unexpected free time on my hand, I decided to go back and watch the stuff that I skipped out on the first time around to see if it were as bad (or perhaps not as bad) as people made it out to be. Since I’ve watched the whole show, I’ve decided to take down the earlier post, expand on it considerably, and the end result is today’s bonus musings of sorts.
For the record, I wrote the bulk of this before Smackdown aired.
WWF In Your House #27 – St. Valentine’s Day Massacre (Feb. 1999)
Consider this a bonus musings. A timely one, if you will.
So twenty years, in the midsts of the Attitude Era, the Monday Night Wars, and the never-ending Austin Vs. McMahon feud, the World Wrestling Federation held their February PPV offering on Valentine’s Day. The main event is a Steel Cage match between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Mr. Vincent Kennedy Mac-Kuh-Man-Hun. This show was surprisingly outdrawn by the competing WCW Superbrawl show, featuring a match between Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan in what may be WCW’s last good performing show in… ever.
It’s been twenty years and I wanted to give this show a look.

Power Rangers Reflections #18 – The Power Rangers Holiday Special VHS Tape
Something a little special for today.
Even though Power Rangers Reflections is technically on hiatus until February, where I hope to maintain a few months of weekly uploads if nothing else, I thought that it’d be interesting to talk about a curious VHS tape that I had found while going through boxes of old stuff: the Power Rangers Holiday Special VHS release from 2000-ish.
This isn’t an original special created for tape, however. Rather, it’s a compilation of the three previously released Power Rangers holiday shows of the time, Zeo’s “A Season To Remember”, MMPR’s “I’m Dreaming Of A White Ranger”, and the VHS-exclusive “Alpha’s Magical Christmas.” I’ll touch on these shows briefly, but really, I just wanted to talk about the tape itself and what it meant to me because… it’s Power Rangers Reflections, not Power Rangers Reviews. I reflect on things and while there might be some critical points, it’s supposed to be me offering thoughts and reflections. And this certainly fits that bill.

Sunday Gimmick Table #1 – Ms. Pac-Man Plug N Play Thing
Premiering on the Youtubez… using the premiere.
For the month of December, I show a different gimmick every Sunday. First up, we have a Ms. Pac-Man Thing.
Gameband Officially Cancelled…
![]() |
| Pretend that Steve Austin is the Gameband people and that Vinny Mac is the suckers who gave them money. |
So, once upon a time, there was a thing called Atari Gameband that was kickstarted because people are stupid. A gaming watch? Sure, I’ll go with that. Somewhere along the way, Gameband lost its Atari branding because even the clueless putz running today’s shell of the former company had the sense to get away from that nonsense and focus on their Linux machine disguised as a video game system. Now Gameband is officially cancelled and all those suckers who donated money might not even get a refund.
You poor, deluded fools.
All failed mocking aside, I feel bad for the folks who donated money to this thing… well, almost. And it only serves to reinforce why I have a hard time putting my faith (and dollars) into these crowdfunding bits unless the people holding it have something of a track record behind them. I’ve contributed to a couple of these things and can say that I’m satisfied with what I’ve got… but only because they’ve delivered goods in the past and proven trustworthy as a result.
Atari started a Kickstarter for their gamewatch thing and then bailed on the people making it. And despite their so-called runaway success with Ataribox’s campaign, nigh a word was mentioned since then beyond a couple signings here and there. And then there was attempt to get investors to send them money so they can release a mobile version of Roller Coaster Tycoon onto Switch despite the mobile versions being reviewed poorly. Not quite a track record worthy of forking over money.
A shame, really. That would’ve been a neat gimmick for people to presumably mock and not actually buy.
The New Rikishi, Everyone

Best Of Luck, Joe

You’ve lived with it for a long time.
You’ve kept fighting with it.
You’ve endured everything that was thrown at you.
And you’ve never let up.
For all the vitriol that Roman Reigns the wrestler gets,
the fact that he’s done it all while fighting a horrible disease…
you can’t help but tip your hat to Joe Anoa’i the man.
All the best, Joe.
Hope you beat this thing and come back soon.
Better than ever.
Dick Grayson Is Now Ric Grayson…
Because I guess the Bat-Dick was such a big deal…
But see, if they’re going to get rid of all the dicks, they have to kill off Superman.
After all, Superman is kind of a dick.
Oh well, I don’t see this lasting long and we’ll probably get another shitty reboot in a couple years.
