RedLetterMedia Tackles The Movie Theater Problem

Red Letter Media – famed hack frauds who produced those wonderful Plinkett reviews that will never be made again due to Content ID shit – discuss the woes of movie theaters and how they can survive in this world of streaming video and movies not quite having the same impact as they once did. Apparently, this discussion came about because a couple “big” movies flopped at the box office during memorial weekend and that, along with news of multiple movie theaters shutting down, is signaling the end of the movie theater.

I don’t know if I can make that determination… probably why I posted the above video instead, but I will say this much.

The “Forbidden” REREZ Video About Emulation

Rerez shows you how to get legal ROMS through legal means… mostly through Steam. This is such a hot button video that it didn’t show up on my Youtube feed and I only found out about it because I tend to frequent the actual channel page.

Apparently, being a big fan of emulation will keep your videos from showing up on feeds.

Stupid.

KNUCKLES Trailer (& Knuckles)

Well, it’s the trailer for the six-episode “event” or whatever the fuck they’re calling it… because everything has to be an “event” these days. Nothing can ever just be a mini-series or even a series.

Anyway… it’s more Knuckles… and you can do no wrong with moar Knuckles…

Unless you throw in a DWAYNE…

A Disturbance In The Force, You Say?

I see this teaser for a documentary film that supposedly tells us how the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special happened… and other than clips from the cast at various conventions and interviews eluding to its status as a forbidden subject, the only talking heads featured on the show seem to be celebrities and hack frauds who seemingly have nothing to do with the Holiday Special.

Having seen the Holiday Special – yes, the whole damned special – I am somewhat curious about how such a thing came to be and I’ll admit to finding the idea of a documentary covering the origins of this strange piece of Sith blasphemy in Star Wars lore appealing. This teaser trailer – featuring some dude speaking with a Darth Vader voice filter that gives me greater appreciation for the people who voiced Vader in those old PC games from the 90s – does little to sell me on the idea that this is a story worth talking about.

Having a bunch of people talk about how bad the Holiday Special is – no matter who you get for talking heads – that’s old news. It’s been done to death. You can get that sort of thing online for free. But a documentary talking about how this came to be is an idea worth pursuing. Maybe this film actually does do that. I wouldn’t know by watching this, however. At this point, I’d much rather watch the actual Holiday Special again than watch this film.

Regardless, I wish the filmmakers the best of luck. And I hope they do a better job selling this thing than what they have here.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie’s “Final” Trailer

It looks like a Mario. It moves like a Mario. But does it talk like a Mario?

Does it really matter? I’ve heard Mario get voiced by a bunch of people? Here’s another to add to the list.

At least, the movie looks like it’ll be fun. A nightmare to point out all the references, but it’ll be fun.

We’ll see, I guess.

THQnordiq Shows Off AEW Video Game With MINIGAMES!

The newest trailer for the upcoming AEW Fight Forever – featuring MINIGAMES – is here.
Looks more arcade-y compared to the other ones, so it’ll probably be easier to pick up and play. I’m not too crazy about the minigames; they look silly and I hope they’re not part of the career mode. Other than that, it looks okay.
I know some concerns have been raised about the graphics, but that’s not a concern. The concern is how the game plays and if it plays great, then the game could look like dog shit for all I care. We’ll see what happens when this game eventually comes out.

Sonic Origins Trailer (Remastered Sonic Games Compilation)

A little late to the game, but yeah… Sega’s Sonic Origins compilation, which collects remastered versions of Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD in one package. And yes, there are the Whitehead/Headcannon ports, which means widescreen, playable characters across all four games, and other bits and bobs. A nice, wholesome package, for sure.
The only caveat is that in a few weeks, Sega will be taking down the individual releases of these games from these digital storefronts. So if you want to get classic Sonic stuff off Steam, Playstation, or Xbox, get ’em while you can because once they’re gone, they’re gone for good… fried chicken.
Lame move to dampen a pleasant reveal, but that’s Sega for you. They’d fuck up running water.
