One Incentive Cover You’ll Never See Published…

For what it’s worth, the image itself was done years ago – it’s even been used as a thumbnail for one of my older video reviews. It’s essentially someone sitting on the john with a Green Ranger helmet added on and the tie recolored green. (I believe it’s from a poster for a George W. Bush biopic or something; can’t recall which one, but the cowboy boots are a dead giveaway.) However, with Boom Studios offering blank cover editions of their MMPR comics, it seems like a no-brainer to produce a custom cover of my own.

To the three people who might have the inclination to ask, I do have a write-up planned in regards to the current comic series being published. It’s going to take a while since I do need to play catch-up on a couple things, but hopefully, sooner than later, it’ll be up in some form or fashion.

The cover, however, should provide a hint as to my feelings on the current run, but not necessarily the whole story.

TNA Genesis 2010

Happy 3:16 day since that’s a thing… so let’s do a TNA PPV.

Since Impact Wrestling had their relaunch take place last week, I figured that this would be a good time to check out one other time when the former TNA had a relaunch of sorts (one of many it would seem). And indeed, it was a relaunch for better or worse… mostly worse, but at the time, there was some hope and fear. And so, for today’s wrestling musings, I’ll be watching the TNA Genesis 2010 PPV that aired on January 17th.

I’ve got a few more TNA DVDs laying around featuring old PPV events and whenever I get the chance, I’ll be doing quick musings on some of them. It’ll be something a bit different from the WWE dominated fare as of late.

But first… some context.

Dennis Stamp (December 6, 1946 – March 13, 2017)

Dennis Stamp passed away yesterday after a long battle with cancer.

A former professional wrestler during the 1970s and 1980s with over 2,000 matches in the AWA and various territories under his belt, journeyman Dennis Stamp would later gain cult fame as a result of a cameo appearance in the 1999 documentary Beyond The Mat, serving as the guest referee for a 1997 match between Bret Hart and Terry Funk in one of the latter’s many retirement matches.

RIP, Dennis Stamp. Your booking in the live event above awaits you.

Flippin’ Called It, MF’ers!

I’d call this a spoiler, but since this was announced on the Impact Wrestling twitter, I’ll leave it out in the open.

Anyone read that long rambling post I did on the “new” Impact Wrestling. If not, give it a whirl if you’ve got nothing better to do, but I want to bring up this one blurb.

The main event was shit. Never mind the lack of excitement over a World title match between Booby Lashley and Alberto El Beevis; the match was slow, plodding, lacking any semblance of energy or anticipation. I’ve seen Giant Gonzales matches more exciting than this. On top of that, the classic cliche of TWO REF BUMPS and a BELT SHOT to give the new guy the title in a title match that the new guy got because he’s a former WWE guy… and then you have the refs bicker and that might be teasing a Dusty Finish and…

Guess what just happened? Alberto Del Paige has relinquished the World title and it’s going back to Lashley.

And so that whole main event business was completely fucking pointless!

And I fucking called it. Where’s my money?
