Sorry For The Lack Of Posts… Been Sick

So I want to apologize for the lack of material this past week or so, but I’ve been fighting off a cocktail of winter ailments – tension headaches, common colds, heavy coughing, practically no voice, and even the one-off nosebleed that probably won’t scratch any Muta scales – and I spent most of my free time in bed recovering.

All the while having to partake in a Sunday dinner that I somehow survived and didn’t make anyone else sick.

Fortunately, things are starting to pick up. I’m feeling a little better (not great, but better) and just recently got my voice back, which means I can start dubbing the next bunch of videos and even the next DTM-Cast, which should be up this coming Sunday. Things are going to be slowly, but surely returning to normal… but I’ve also got some other bits that need tending to.

That’s it for now… later.

Ataribox Delayed Again… This Time Due To Coronavirus

Source: https://us.blastingnews.com/gaming/2020/02/atari-vcs-console-delayed-yet-again-due-to-coronavirus-outbreak-003063581.html

Anyone remember Ataribox? Of course, you don’t, but here’s the latest update for those who care.

IndieGoGo backers who contributed close to three million dollars to the Ataribox crowdfunding campaign and hoping to receive their brand spanking new systems next month after several delays… will have to wait a little longer since the release has been delayed again. This time due to the recent Coronavirus outbreak that has claimed over 1000 lives to date and it’ll be a while before the production plants will resume operations.

This is not the sort of thing you’d like to make a joke around; clearly, this latest delay in a series of them is out of the hands of Atari. It’s nature at work in this regard. But if the Coronavirus is a legit reason for the delay and not just a cover story for a delay that was going to happen anywhere – because I’m sure some folks will feel that – but I will give Atari the benefit of the doubt and assume the delay is nature’s fault.

So, hopefully, once everything is settled, Atari can get to release the console that they sold to people… and hopefully not delay the thing again because they need to defer money to their hotel business.

Think I’m joking? Boom.

Fired Up The WWE Network For The First Time In Weeks

Much to my personal astonishment, I have not spent much time on the WWE Network as of late. The last item that was on my watchlist was a WCW All Nighter special uploaded as a hidden gem, which was basically a five-hour long look back at the top matches of the various Clash Of The Champions network specials.

Also, much to my personal astonishment, I did not have to sign in to WWE Network, which had been case every time I’d load up the app on my Apple TV. So there was that.

So I made a point to sit down and watch this year’s Royal Rumble, which I’ve heard was alright for the most part… however, my mind strayed and I ended up watching an old WWF Pay-Per-View event called “The Wrestling Classic.”

At the end of it all, I almost regret not watching the Rumble like I planned.

AEW Dynamite (Feb. 5th, 2020): Whip ‘Em, Boy.

So this will be brief… because I really only want to touch on a couple quick bits. For the sake of disclosure, I thought that last week’s edition of Dynamite was top-notch stuff from top to bottom, beginning with a match to build one top-level feud and ending with one of the best non-wrestling wrestling segments I’ve seen in years to build another top-level feud.

So I will bring up five random points about the show overall after the break.

IMPACT Wrestling’s HARD TO KILL (January 2020 PPV)

WWE names one of their PPVs after an classic old song. Why not have a PPV named after a Steven Seagal movie?

And how apropos is Hard To Kill for a title of an Impact PPV, because it perfectly fits with the company’s identity. No matter how many fuck-ups have occurred, the company continues to survive to see another decade. Yes, it has produced countless hours of horrendous television and PPVs. Yes, it has made some questionable decisions for the sake of cheap publicity that fizzled out quickly, but no matter how bad the mess-up, the former TNA somehow finds a way to survive another year and for that alone, it deserves a modicum of respect.

Which is why I’m doing a very quick write-up on this show.

COMIC REVIEW – Superman #19 (Jan. 2020)

This comic book is also a piece of shit.

Continuing from last issue’s ridiculously retarded plot thread where Superman reveals his identity as Clark Kent to the world, we have the very unrealistic reaction of everyone being happy for him and his brave act, Perry White “firing” Clark Kent and hiring Superman as a staff writer… because that makes sense. And then he gets into a fight with Mongul on the…

You know what? I don’t care. This whole thing is fucking stupid.

Anyone remember when DC tried this outing of Clark Kent/Superman a few years back with that equally shitty TRUTH story arc? Anyone remember the reaction to that sort of thing. Perry fires Clark and Clark goes down on his luck… and that’s before shit hits the fan. Anyone remember when Marvel outed Spider-Man for that Civil War garbage and then everything went straight to hell with him? Does this fucking hack that people still believe is a good writer forget about the time he outed Daredevil and the consequences that came afterwards? Now, all of a sudden, Supes publicly does away with the whole secret identity thing and everyone is… happy for him? Why?

If this were a realistic situation, people would be genuinely pissed off about this… because the guy who was writing the news in their favorite newspaper was really the guy making the news this entire time. It makes you wonder if anything out of that newspaper could be considered legitimate news since they’ve been harboring someone who has been making the news that made the newspaper what it is, today. Honestly, that should’ve been the take we’d go with here. We’re living in an age of fake news this and sensationalist media that where everything is questioned and debated… why not play up on that by having people question the integrity of the Planet?

It wouldn’t have made this story any better, because fuck, nothing will… but it would’ve been an interesting take, at least.

The artwork in general isn’t anything worth mentioning. It’s fine for what it is and quite frankly, anything that doesn’t look horrendous is fine by my book. However, even if this had some of the most beautifully-drawn and colored comic panels in the history of comics, it wouldn’t be enough to turn this turkey dung into something worthwhile.

In conclusion, Superman’s current arc is still a piece of shit and I’ve spent enough time on this crap.
