Capcom Releasing Multiple Titles By March 2023… None Of Them Are Mega Man

Source: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2022/05/capcom-releasing-multiple-major-new-titles-by-march-31-2023

So Capcom put out a list of “major” titles they will be releasing soon. A couple Resident Evil remakes to next gen consoles, the Capcom Fighting Collection and the other Stadium thing, another Monster Hunter, and a couple other titles whose names I forget, so if you want to check the list out, click the link above.
One name missing from that list is the ol’ Blue Bomber himself. I guess we’re going to have to wait until Inafking brings us Mighty No. 10, after all. And I don’t want to live in that reality.
Or, you know, I could go back to play the other dozen or so Mega Men I’ve got laying around… yeah, I might do that.

AEW Dynamite (May 11th, 2022): The Only Goodhausen Is A Deadhausen

Pretend you’re Excalibur and you have to read the following paragraph in less than 30 seconds of airtime.
Adam Cole beat Dax in an Owen match. CM Punk killed the Meatman with the Hangman’s Buckshot Lariat. A Tony Schiavone-conducted interview with Britt Baker does not get interrupted. Tony Nese, who didn’t even get an entrance, Kill-Hausens Danhausen, much to my happiness… and then Hook shows up because sure, why not? And now we have Hookhausen… I’d be much happier with Deadhausen, but whatever-hausen… Fuck, now I’m doing the hausen thing. MJF/Wardlow contract signing turns into a Dark Side Of The Ring segment featuring Barry Horowitz… MJF gets a pop from the Long Island crowd. They book the match for DOuble or Nothing, assuming ten whip shots, cage match from Ten Guy with MJF as special ref… and Wardlow kills the lawyer guy. Ricky Starks retains his FTW belt over Jungle Boy. Toni Storm beats the Hayter and Jeff Hardy beats Darby in what is supposed to be an Owen match but ended up being a match full of crazy spots and by the way, did you know Owen’s widow and kids were at the show? I wonder what they thought of that match.
It was a better show than last week, at least.

Ncuti Gatwa Is The 14th Doctor In Doctor Who

Source: https://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/official-ncuti-gatwa-is-the-14th-doctor-97203.htm

So they cast another Doctor for Doctor Who… and it’s the guy from Sex Education.
I’m sure that means something to someone out there somewhere.
I know nothing about this actor, which usually means no colored (no pun intended) expectations as to how well he’ll do as the Doctor.
I just hope he gets better scripts than Jodie did.
Also, how many folks are weeping that they’re not getting a second dose of David Tennant, as rumored? Or that the Doctor is still not ginger?
Anyway, best of luck to Ncuti Gatwa in his new role.

Switch Hardware Sales Surpass Wii U Software Sales… This Is News For Some Reason

Source: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2022/05/random-switch-console-sales-outstrip-the-poor-wii-us-total-software-sales

“There are more Switch consoles sold then there are Wii U games.”
The quote of a Twitter fellow who showed off sales figures of Switch consoles flying past those of Wii U software sales. And if I’m going to be honest here, is anyone really surprised by this development?
Get back to me when this system is doing Game Boy and DS numbers, then I’ll throw the ticker tape parade. Much like the one Turner threw Hulk Hogan when he signed with WCW. And then you can have Switch pin Ric Flair to win the World title, beat him again in a retirement match, and then main event Starrcade against the Booty Man.
Wait, what was I talking about?

Impact Wrestling HARD TO KILL 2022

After that Backlash show from this past weekend, I needed a palette cleanser and I realized that I had this Impact Wrestling Hard To Kill PPV to watch after getting the replay a while back, so here we are. And for anyone wondering, they do indeed still call it a PPV and not a premium live event or whatever stupid vernacular they come up with these days.
And yes, I’m still using that Steven Seagal Hard To Kill banner for the show. I think that’s going to be a running gag for whenever I do these Hard To Kill PPVs.
Anyway, this too place back in January and I had planned on giving the show a watch before other plans took place. However, with nothing else going on at the moment and to somewhat counteract the taste of revisiting an old rubbish TNA show, I should go back and watch the newest effort from Impact Wrestling, which is seeing somewhat better days.

WWE Backlash 2022 (a.k.a. Wrestlemania Rehash)

Consider this a bonus musings before the regularly scheduled PPV musings for the day pops up later on. Long story short; I was feeling a bit sick and this popped up, so I figured “why not?”
The good news is that the show was a little under three hours and went by fairly quickly. Not only that, but for the most part, the wrestling was largely good, even if some of the finishes were somewhat weak. If you’re going into this just wanting some good wrestling, this Backlash show (I refuse to call it the full name) covers that bare minimum quite nicely.

With that said, if you’re looking for something a little more worthwhile and worthy of the premium live event moniker that they like to toss around, then this isn’t it. This was a case of a show where nothing of note happened. Yeah, Ronda won the Smackdown title in that I Quit match, but that’s a win that should’ve happened at Mania and other than that, you’ve got a show of rematches where nothing of note happened. Again, there’s good wrestling on here if that’s all you want, but otherwise, you could easily skip this and not miss a beat.

Random Thoughts On… Star Trek Resurgence

A little late to the party… but I wanted to sit on this for a bit before sharing some thoughts…

This Star Trek: Resurgence video game that’s coming up or maybe it’s already out – I haven’t checked – but it looks vaguely interesting. And I thought it was a novel choice to make a Star Trek game and have it take place on a Starfleet vessel that isn’t the one anyone would be familiar with. It’s not an Enterprise; it’s not a Voyager; it’s random no-name Starship run by a new set of characters with their own duties and stuff to deal with. And I thought it’s a nice approach, because you can do an original Star Trek story with a new cast of characters and not have to worry about canon or anything like that. The only thing you’d have to worry about is the minutae, which shouldn’t be that difficult because usually, these Star Trek games do a fine job of conforming and respecting the lore… there are exceptions, of course, but games of this ilk, especially those who are reliant on lore – no pun intended, there – usually respect that lore.
So from what I’ve gathered, this is more of a choose-your-own-adventure game where you play a character and you are sometimes presented with a number of actions you can take in order to progress the story. THat’s my first impression from the few snippets of gameplay that I’ve see. I don’t know if there’s more to it, but that’s the impression I got is a sort of interactive move. The preview that they have… I don’t know who’s doing the Spock voice, but it’s almost – ALMOST BUT NOT QUITE – a dead ringer for Leonard Nimoy. I mean, you pay attention, it’s not quite the same voice, but it’s damn close and whoever they got did a fine job, and the rest of the cast perform rather admirably to move the scene and that sort of thing. So that’s one aspect of the game that I’m not too concerned with is the voice acting. The graphics kinda look a bit cheap and plasticky; you’d figure we’d be at a point where we’d be beyond that sort of thing with all these 4K-this and raytrace-that and all these fucking gimmicks… but I guess we need another console generation to get close that deepfake shit that people can pull off on their fucking phones or something.
But yeah, I am curious about this. And if it’s at the right price point and if the word of mouth for this thing is pretty good, then I may give it a shot, but if not… Steam sale, I guess… ‘cuz it’s probably not going to be on GOG. And you know? That would be nice.

Review #860 – Gauntlet Legends (Nintendo 64)

Do yourself a favor and don’t shoot the 64-bit food in this Gauntlet Legends port on Nintendo 64.

For the longtime visitors and viewers of this stuff – my condolences – you may recall that the 500th and 600th reviews focused on Gauntlet games of this ilk, which makes one wonder what #900 is going to be if this is shunted out of that prestigious spot.
