How Long Before I’m Accused Of Being An Anti-AEW Bot?

So let me get this straight…

CM Punk – your AEW World Champion – returned to TV last week and clashed with Jon Moxley – your interim AEW World Champion and last night, the two had a bit of a kerfluffle if you will. This match to unify both belts is supposed to be a big deal. Jim Ross went so far to say on his podcast that this could be the biggest match in AEW history. Clearly, if there was a bonafine main event for your big All Out PPV that’s coming in three weeks, this would be it.

So why in the blue hell would you book that match next week on Dynamite… FOR FREE?

I think ol’ TK is starting to lose his marbles. Just when you think things are on the up and up with some good shows, there’s a couple whacko decisions that make me wonder what the fuck. This PPV is in three weeks and they haven’t done much of a good job of building this bloody thing. Give me a reason to watch this show, is what I’m saying.

I’m not upset enough to throw up the Corny Face… but was I ever tempted here.

On the bright side, Danielson/Garcia was top-notch.

WWE Summerslam 2021

Yeah, I’ve got nothing for this one, kids… so GOOMBA!
Summerslam 2021 took place on a Saturday; the rare instance of the annual PPV taking place on another day outside of its usual Sunday night airing. Summerslam 2021 took place the night after former former wrestler Cookie Monster Punk made his return to wrestling on the second episode of AEW Rampage.
I didn’t watch Summerslam last year; I had better things to do. And reading the results from the show as well as news that it went beyond the promised three-hour runtime meant that it was going to be the first major WWE PPV that I would miss out on. But since this year’s Summerslam is looking to go international, I’d figure that I’ve got nothing to lose and give this show a shot.

THQnordiq Shows Off AEW Video Game With MINIGAMES!

The newest trailer for the upcoming AEW Fight Forever – featuring MINIGAMES – is here.
Looks more arcade-y compared to the other ones, so it’ll probably be easier to pick up and play. I’m not too crazy about the minigames; they look silly and I hope they’re not part of the career mode. Other than that, it looks okay.
I know some concerns have been raised about the graphics, but that’s not a concern. The concern is how the game plays and if it plays great, then the game could look like dog shit for all I care. We’ll see what happens when this game eventually comes out.

WWE Summerslam 2020

So I never did a musings on this show, did I?
Oh yeah, because it was in the Thunderdome… that weird period in WWE history where they held all their shows in an arena in Florida where, instead of being occupied by a live audience, you had video screens of people at home doing face time and “reacting” to stuff… and then of course, everyone figured out quickly that reactions were controlled completely by WWE production so match up with how they felt people should react… I’m pretty sure WWE wishes they could go back to the Thunderdome whenever they have a crowd that refuses to play ball.
But, anyway, this was the beginning of the Thunderdome era, which I was never a big fan of. The idea was sound in theory, but always felt creepy in execution. All those empty, sterile facecams staring into the ring, the constant feel of Big Brother always watching. And then there would be times when the ‘Dome would be used for “supernatural” effects, such as whenever we needed Bray Wyatt to do his shitty magic tricks. Thank fuck he’s no longer around.
Anyway, I took the time to watch this while in bed. My thoughts on this will be ever so brief, so don’t be surprised if I blow through this faster than Kevin Dunn shines his bucky beavers.

Review #894 – Mario Bros. (Atari 7800)

What’s more startling? A Mario game on an Atari console or a Mario game on an Atari console that’s also competing with the console that Mario made famous?

Actually, to say that 7800 was competing with NES is a misnomer. Still, a bit amazing that Mario Bros on a non-Nintendo system while there’s an actual Nintendo system is a thing.

And it doesn’t suck. Hooray!
