Fantasy Booking An Entirely Different Wrestlemania Scenario
I have a braindead idea for a Wrestlemania booking scenario that will blow nobody’s socks off. It’s absurd, but I don’t see why it can’t happen.
Cody comes out and decides he wants to challenge for the one title that his father has never held. That, of course, would be the 24/7 championship. So Cody decides to forgo his World title shot at Mania to challenge for the 24/7 title. Unfortunately, there is no 24/7 Championship as the previous champion, Nikki Cross, tossed it in the trash (or at least tried to). Fortunately, WWE official Adam Pearce got one from the souvenir shop, gave it to Cody and declared him the new 24/7 championship.
Roman Reigns, the reigning WWE champion, is left without a challenger at Mania. And so he challenges Bad Bunny to a title match. Bad Bunny main events Wrestlemania and gets brutalized by Roman, setting up the rematch at Puerto Rico, which sees Roman victorious once more. Roman Reigns then celebrates his 1000th day as undisputed universal champion by defeating Man Soir in Saudi Arabia… and then the reign continues until Roman is challenged by the newly signed MJF at Wrestlemania 40. MJF would end Roman’s reign as champion and then proceed to tank the ratings.
Gunther continues his reign as Intercontinental champion for the next ten years. Even when he is released from his WWE contract, he continues to make IC title defenses at local indy shows. WWE, meanwhile, would introduce another crappy IC title belt design.
Oh, and KO and Sami would win the tag titles at Mania and enjoy a couple months with the belts before they drop it to New Day and proceed to feud with each other again.
Yeah, that’s all I’ve got. Bye.
AEW Revolution 2023
Well, now that we’ve finally caught up, it’s time to watch the Revolution PPV from earlier this month. I’ve heard good things about it, which compelled me to order the replay and give it a watch. Also, we now have a date for the Double Or Nothing PPV, which I will make a point to watch this year in a timely manner.
Anyway, a couple big matches. Hangman vs. Mox in TEXAS DEATH! Danielson vs. MJF in a 60-minute IRON MAN MATCH! The Elite defends the Trios titles against THE HOUSE OF BLACK! It’s the battle of the WOMEN WITH THE FUNNY ACCENTS FOR THE WOMEN’S TITLE… which is a weirdly inappropriate name for a three-way between three fine talents, but is certainly more appropriate than saying that your reigning World Tag-Team champions… are THE GUNNS.
That last statement earned a wet fart from the dog… I betcha that makes headlines in the next Observor.
Anyway, enough talk. Have at this PPV then.

Shazam Underperforms At Box Office… What Did You Expect?
So the new Shazam movie came out this past weekend.
Raise your hand if this is a surprise to you because it sure was to me.
Unlike the first movie, which had a bunch of press behind it, this “Fury Of The Gods” film went under the radar. Nobody talks about it, nobody is promoting the thing, nobody is marketing the thing, and as such, nobody knows that it’s a thing that exists until it’s already out. I didn’t know the movie had been released until someone I subscribe to on Youtube did a review on it. At first, I thought they got an advanced screening or something, but nope. Turns out the movie has been out since Friday.
Well, color me (not) shocked, but apparently Shazam underperformed at the box office. I won’t speak to the quality of the film since I have not seen it – reactions have been mixed, with critics not caring for it, but the audiences enjoying it – but in regards to the film not being an instant money maker without any kind of marketing machine behind it, only one thing comes to mind…
What did you expect?
Listen, you assclowns. If you’re going to spend money on this big blockbuster motion picture, then you need marketing. Yes, that costs some money, but at the very least, people will know about your movie and any failure at the box office can at least be attributed to lack of interest as opposed to lack of marketing. I get that there’s a big reboot of this whole universe coming up and this is being thrown under the bus as a result despite the higher ups claiming that they’d like to retain the Shazam crew for future projects if this does well.
Look, I enjoyed the first Shazam film. I thought it was a fun little superhero movie released during a time when genuinely fun superhero movies from DC were an endangered species. This second film looks to be more of the same – for better or worse – but it’s not high on my list of must-see movies. I’ll wait until it hits DVD.
And no, the Rock refusing to cameo in the movie is NOT the reason for its underperformance. Last time I checked, Black Adam wasn’t exactly a box office winner, either.
Yeah, so… bye.
