WWE Blood Money IV – Crown Jewel 2019

Well, it took them four shows, but WWE finally managed to get a women’s match booked at a Saudi Arabia show. And I’ll get this out of the way; Nattie vs. Lacey Evans was fairly ho-hum and unexciting as a match in and of itself, but at the very least, you’ve got that female foot in the door of the gloriously progressive kingdom of Saudi Arabia and that deserves some kind of credit if nothing else.

As for the rest of the show… holy fuck… and there’s also the one with Fiend Vs. Goldberg, which would turn out to be the last WWE PPV event before the world went to shit with COVID… but that’s next week. Let’s get this fucking thing out of the way.

COMIC REVIEW – Batman #428: Robin Lives!

Here’s an interesting piece of business that DC put out last year; the alternate version of Batman #428 from 1988 that served as the third chapter of the much controversial storyline “A Death In The Family,” that saw readers call in to vote for the demise of the second Robin, Jason Todd. Now, we’ve already seen that story and we’ve also seen that story’s importance minimized with the subsequent resurrection of Jason Todd back in the mid-2000s.

However, if callers had voted for Robin to live, this would have been the issue that would continue the story. And if you were expecting any drastic divergence from what was already published, you’re probably going to come away disappointed. Part 3 of A Death In The Family – The Robin Lives Edition plays out in pretty much the same way as the version we got, except this time, Robin… well, you know, lives. Beyond that, he doesn’t play much of a role afterwards and the story continues as it had before.

Batman #428 – The Robin Lives Edition could easily be slotted into the rest of the story without compromise if you want to imagine this story in a world where readers voted to let Jason Todd live. It’s not much of a big deal from a story standpoint, but being able to see what could have been after all this time is still a pretty sweet deal and something that I’m sure would be included in future TPB editions of this particular storyline. I’m rather pleased to see that this exists.

Now, the follow-up miniseries that DC begat afterwards… that, I could do without…

In A Change Of Pace… An Audio Show About KHAN

Source: https://trekmovie.com/2025/02/27/surprise-production-has-wrapped-on-star-trek-khan-audio-series-with-naveen-andrews-in-title-role/

So they announced that production had concluded on the Khan audio show… this would be an audio program produced by Star Trek II director Nicholas Meyer that would focus on Khan’s time on Ceti Alpha V in between the episode Space Seed and the aforementioned Wrath of Khan. I’ll be honest; I’m unfamiliar with any of the people they’ve casted. The guy who is playing Khan apparently looks the part, so if his voice carries as much weight, we have someone who could probably play the role on TV.

In regards to this series being a thing… I’m ambivalent on another thing about Khan Noonien Singh after Into Darkness and one of the SNW people being a descendant of the character, but the idea of Star Trek venturing into full-cast audio dramas does intrigue me. They attempted something like this with No Man’s Land, which tried (and failed) to build on the (lack of) chemistry between Raffi and Seven. That, and the story itself wasn’t all that great, but it did open the door for more of those type of things to be made and I do hope that it’s a direction that the franchise explores further, even if these stories end up being relegated to B-canon material that is eventual overridden by something on TV that turns out to be even shittier.

Curious to see how this turns out… and whether more of this follows…

On the bright side… aren’t you glad we’re not talking about Section 31?

WWE 2K25 DLC Packs Revealed… Not A Lick Of Belief…

Source: https://www.sescoops.com/gaming/wwe-2k25/wwe-2k25-dlc-packs-revealed-legends-nba-stars-attitude-era-more/

For anyone who gives a shit, the DLC packs for the upcoming WWE 2K25 video game was revealed and anyone hoping that a certain TNA World Champion who appears whenever his name is said… well, his name was never mentioned. And therefore, he doesn’t appear. However, one of the DLC packs does include Abyss as a playable character, so it’s not all bad.

Otherwise… eh, I don’t care. Including that fellow who shall not be named in one of your stupid DLC packs would have been enough incentive for me to actually fork over money for this thing… alas, I can rest easy and stick with what I’ve got, which is more than enough.

Return Of Acclaim… Again…

Apparently, some folks (including WWE Hall Of Famer, TNA Co-Founder, and AEW producer Jeff Jarrett) are involved in the revival of Acclaim Entertainment, which went bankrupt back in 2004. I suppose some folks are going to be excited by this, but what’s the point? Most of Acclaim’s most popular properties are currently under new ownership and licensing isn’t as cheap as it used to be.

There was an attempt to bring back the Acclaim label in the late-2000s, but this was focused on online gaming and didn’t last long. I’m curious to see where this new take on Acclaim goes from here and whether there’s any old Acclaim properties that haven’t been bought out by anyone else… who knows? Maybe they can make a new Destination Earthstar or something. That may be enough to bring back Classic Game Room for another round before falling back into obscurity due to low viewership numbers.

Aww… now I’m sad again.

For Anyone Who Cares… New Doctor Who Begins Next Month

Source: https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/doctor-who-season-two-date-b2702782.html

For anyone who still watches the show, the next season/series/whatever of Doctor Who will begin on April 12th, despite rumors that the series was set to air later this year. Included in this post is the recently released trailer, so you can decide for yourself if it’s something to look forward to.

If there is a physical release of the previous season that I can pick up for dirt cheap, I’ll probably go for that in an effort to catch up. As it is right now, I have no desire to sign up to Disney+ because I have no interest in subscribing to more than one streaming service at a time. Right now, I’m sticking with Netflix because of the WWE deal and that might last up until Wrestlemania comes and goes. After that, though… we’ll see… but it won’t be Disney+ or anything like that.
