Quick Thoughts On… Ashens And The Quest For The Gamechild

Just saw the Ashens movie… Will probably get back to this in a fuller post, but suffice it to say, I thought it was an enjoyable little flick. The story was decent, there were some funny bits, the movie looked very good, there’s some Multiverse cameos if you’re into that sort of thing, and most of all, I thought it had a nice flow throughout the movie. There was never any instance where the movie dragged or where I could see a joke coming a mile away every ten seconds or so; even with the bit of foreshadowing at the beginning of the movie that I completely missed the first time around.

All in all, I thought it was a pretty good flick. It’s not anything high caliber or high art – it does have some issues here and there – but certainl,y it was a better movie than the various rubbish specials put out by Channel Awesome over the past few years. Really, if you enjoy the Ashens stuff and want a fun little movie to watch, definitely give this a look. It’s well done, it’s a fun movie, and most enticing of all, it’s free… quite a pleasant surprise because this deserves the DVD treatment.

So… Jimmy. Your turn.

Mania 30 Main Event Scrapped… Because It Sucks.

Interesting tidbit regarding a potential “main event” at the upcoming Wrestlemania XXX. For those who desire not teh spoilers, do not click the break. All I can say is that… thank fuck this idea is scrapped.

For those who are curious and do not mind teh spoilers, read onwards.

From the Blog Of Doom (and the dirtsheets)

Originally Planned Main Event for WrestleMania 30 Has Been Scrapped

The planned match, which would feature HHH vs. Steve Austin (who would be representing Vince) for control of the company will not take place. No word on what caused the match to be scrapped or if they are planning to replace Austin with another wrestler.

Haven’t heard this bounce around all that much, but I do recall it being an idea or two tossed around. Whatever might have caused this match to not take place is probably a Godsend. The last thing we need is another “Wrestlemania Moment” featuring a sleep-inducing HHH match – although make no mistake; we’ll still get that one, just with someone other than Austin.

On top of that… of all the ideas that have been shot together that were considered for a possible Steve Austin return to the ring, THAT’S the best they could come up with?

Sad that a video game does a better job of hyping up a non-existent dream match than the WWE script monkeys could.

Review #199 – WWF Royal Rumble (Super NES)

Change of plans in regards to planned updates as I went off my schedule. The planned Nerd commentary video is still in the works (basically missing some vital video footage for a couple segments as well as doing some quick redubs) and I’ve decided to hold off the Net Reviewer Battle Royal for another month. However, the 200th Review will still see the light on Wednesday.
