Interesting bit of business. According to this article, TNA is holding a vote among fans as to whether they should stick with their traditional four-sided ring or bring back their old six-sided ring that they used to have back in the late-2000s. This has earned the ire of Austin Aries and the former Derrick Bateman, who believe fans shouldn’t have voting power over the wrestling product… which probably meant they weren’t fans of the Cyber Sunday concepts that WWE used to do.

Look, you could argue over the semantics of bringing back the six-sided ring, whether it’d be worth it to inconvenience a few folks so that they could bring back something that people would identify as a TNA trademark. And you could argue over whether giving the fans – the people who pay for the privilege to watch other folks risk their well-being to do the jobs that earns them the livelihood they themselves are privileged to have – some semblance of control is a good idea. And mind you, there is no indication that this is going to mean anything. It’s wrestling, after all. And wrestling rarely goes through anything unplanned… rarely.

The question shouldn’t be “Should the fans have control?” but rather “Do the fans even care enough to exert that option?” And perhaps more to the point, does it even matter? Because contrary to what Aries and EC3 will have you believe, you DO have some semblance of control over the product… it’s called Voting With Your Wallet.

In the end, it was a broken neck that ended the dream… Well, it had to happen sooner or later.

People are probably upset about this turn of events and might even think the past year of pushing the guy to the top seems like a waste, but at the end of the day, I’m not displeased with how things turned out. The guy got to beat John Cena clean, got to headline PPV main events, managed to get the crowd behind him, and eventually got the one Wrestlemania moment that made it all worthwhile. All of these things, you cannot take away from Bryan Danielson no matter how hard you tried.

It was a good story with its ups and downs. A shit ending due to real life circumstances, but a nice feelgood story from an organization that produces so few of them these days.

Best of luck in your recovery, Bryan. And here’s hoping you come back stronger and better than ever.

From a Lords Of Pain posting, a fan photo of a TNA Wrestling event in Bowie, Maryland, where they played to a crowd of up to 300 paying fans at a minor league stadium. To give some context, the average minor league baseball game would draw at least three times that number. I don’t want to speak ill of TNA (mostly to avoid attracting that kind of fan), but for a decade-old wrestling organization with national television exposure and having been home to some major names to draw this paltry an attendance is pretty pathetic and pretty telling of TNA’s woes at the moment.

Of course, ask any TNA fan or office worker about this sort of thing and they will insist that EVERYTHING IS FINE.

People like to bitch about WWE’s stupid antics, but when TNA does the cheaper, bargain-basement version of it, it’s a-okay, right?

Or is it supposed to be the other way around? I am the confused.

Here’s the important bits of RAW; Bootista quits (again), Daniel Bryan to defend title against Kane at MiTB PPV event or else the title is up for grabs in the gimmick match, why does the other Bella Twin still have a job, and Seth Rollins goes bad because McSonInLaw had a Plan B that was pulled out of his ass. Sure, why not?

If Daniel Bryan decides to keep the title and Nipple H follows through on her threat to fire Brie Bella, can we possibly make it two-for-one and have her fire Nikki while we’re at it? Then we could get John Cena involved and Daniel Bryan can basically pass the title over Cena to spite Nipple H and Cena will have no odds to overcome?

Just a thought…
