Taking A Week Off

Hey, folks. Just let you all know that I’m going to be taking the next week off of life and that means no videos during that time. It wouldn’t be a silent week as I’ve prepped several written posts that will be up during the week, including another PPV Musings and a fun little story that I’ve whipped up on a whim.

Today’s scheduled Power Blade 2 review will be pushed back to next Friday and the week after, all the TMNT-related reviews planned for the month will dumped out the week after a five-day marathon of sorts. And then hopefully after that, we’ll end July and kickstart August with the PC Engine Star Soldier games that have been lingering on the bucket list since the dawn of time. I’ll get around to updating the list on the State Of The Blog page when I have a good idea on where things are going video-wise, but that’ll be the plan for the moment.

This is time I needed to take for a while and although I’m not thrilled at dropping the video aspect of things for the time being, at the very least, the blog will see regular updates here and there. Trust me; this’ll be a good thing in the long run.

And yes… I still miss the old girl.

Michael Cole Explains VHS To Da Kids

So let me just say that I am fairly vocal in my dislike for the Bray Wyatt stuff. Creative guy, sure, but the execution was largely bad. And so when it comes to the Bray Wyatt Tribute Band, my hopes aren’t particularly high in this regard.

That having been said, should this start to fall apart, the only good thing I can take out of this is at the 2:28 mark, where Michael Cole, who’s hip with the youngsters, explain to said kids what a “V.H.S. tape” is. Next week, he should explain stuff like Betamax and 8-Tracks.

AEW Wrestle Dream 2023

There was a WWE PPV this weekend… I didn’t watch it. Had stuff to do.

Instead, you’re getting musings for a bunch of AEW PPVs from last year that I originally skipped out on for reasons. A friend was kind of enough to loan me his DVD recordings of the shows I missed and I ended up doing musings for the shows. That’ll be this month’s output and we’ll see where things pop up in August.

So we begin with the first ever WrestleDream PPV, named in honor of the late Antonio Inoki; of which Tony Khan is such a huge fan of, he dons a similar looking red scarf to the one that Inoki-san used to wear. Aside from that, it is a show that I missed the first time because I did not want to watch more than my fair share of AEW PPVS… or something. I don’t recall. I don’t remember. Most importantly, I don’t care. We’re here and… well… let’s begin…

IMPACT (July 4th, 2024) – Happy Independence Day

Around these parts, we still believe in Joe Hendry… even if NXT management doesn’t… so his mug stays on the banner.

After all, what scream AMERICA better than Joe Hendry?

Kurt Angle?

Okay… maybe… but he’s not as good as Joe Hendry.

It says so in the song…

Okay, I’ll stop now.

AEW Dynamite (July 3rd, 2024) – I Guess Chicago Is Not Swerve’s House

It’s the Forbidden Door post-show edition of Dynamite and it also happens to be the first episode of Dynamite (or any semblance of AEW – TV or PPV) I’ve watched since May. And yes, we’re sticking with the TK Neckbrace banner for now… because it amuses me.

But did this show amuse me?

THE BITE COMMENTARY #04 – My Disenchantment With Modern Video Gaming

Every once in a while, I am often asked why I don’t delve into modern video gaming stuff. Whether it’d be playing the current games, following the current trends, or just trying to keep up with all the current happenings in the modern video gaming scene, there seems to be the occasional inquiry about why I lean more towards classic/retro/vintage/ancient video games from decades ago.

It typically boils down to two things:

A) I prefer the older shit. Not just with video games, but a lot of entertainment media in general, whether it’d be movies, comics, television, or whatnot.

B) I genuinely, honestly don’t give a shit about the current scene.

A lot of point B stems from a lack of interest in what’s available on the market that’s considered the standard offering. Your so-called AAA offerings that are high in production values, marketing bollocks, and other such things. A lot of that stuff simply doesn’t interest me enough to fork over money and on the few occasions that I do dive into the modern scene, it’s only for a fleeting moment before I go back to something old and ancient that keeps my attention for a little longer.

But another part of point B also stems from the fact that… well, let’s be honest. The current gaming scene is a bit of a mess… and I’m not sure that I’d want to be part of that in any way, shape, or form.
