AEW Dynamite (Oct. 2nd, 2019): A Solid First Effort

So this is it… the first episode of All Elite Wrestling on TNT. And wouldn’t you know it? The fine folks at TSN2 happen to be airing the show on a weekly basis (until a month or so down the road where they start showing it on TSN3 or something like that.) Also, on the flip side of things, there’s NXT on USA for the full two hours… but up here, we don’t get NXT until Friday and even then, it’s in a hour-long “best of” version… which I wouldn’t mind normally, but still, no Wednesday night war for any of us, I suppose.

Anyway, I figured I’d give this thing a shot; seeing as I’ve watched all the PPVs and major shows that they aired prior to this, it only seemed fitting to watch this live while I was working daytime. So here we are. Continue reading “AEW Dynamite (Oct. 2nd, 2019): A Solid First Effort”

AWA Superclash IV

Here’s something a bit different; WWE Network had recently uploaded the American Wrestling Association’s fourth and final Superclash supercard show thing onto the service as a hidden gem. This was a show that was believed to have never been televised, but leave it to the folks over at the Network to dig up this tremendous gem for the masses to witness the slow, decaying death of the AWA.

This show took place on April 8th, 1990 from the St. Paul Civic Center in Minnesota.

AEW Dynamite To Air On TSN In Canada

Well, at the last possible minute, we have a deal. Thankfully, I have TSN for some reason… so I can watch this, no problem.

Believe it or not, I’m actually looking forward to this. Maybe I’ll do a posting tomorrow.

Review #694 – Tetris (2019) (Genesis)

A video review of the “long-lost” Genesis port of Tetris, retooled and redone for the Sega Genesis mini plug-and-play console.

But if you folks want the original Mega Drive Tetris that most folks are familiar… I don’t have that, but I did a video on that ages ago that you can check out here.

The Kingdom Come Superman For The Upcoming Crisis

So, good news, everyone. They kept the trunks, so we’ve got at least one Superman that has a semi-decent costume in this Crisis thing that’s coming towards the end of the year. And he fits the suit just fine, I think.

The bad news? I’m pretty sure that all the hype that’s building towards Brandon Routh reprising any semblance of Superman is going towards something that will probably last about five seconds before we have to stick with the usual gang of idiots that everyone says we’re supposed to care about, but actually don’t.

Meanwhile, I’m expecting Tom Welling to appear as a disembodied head pasted onto a CGI model of some Superman figure to keep up with his running gag of never appearing in the suit.

AEW All Out 2019

AEW’s fourth show and second PPV event took place a few weeks ago and due to scheduling conflicts, I was unable to catch the show. From all accounts, I’ve heard mixed reactions. Some really enjoyed the show, while others were lukewarm on it and then you had the few who feel the shine has worn off on all things All Elite. I had bought the Double Or Nothing PPV and enjoyed it, but after two less-than-stellar outings in Fyter Fest and Fight For The Fallen, I was hesitant in forking down another sixty dollars.

As it turned out, a buddy of mine had somehow managed to record the show to DVD-R, thus proving that I’m not the only one with a DVD recording device and offered to lend me his copy for viewing. I thanked him and promised that I’d watching the show over the weekend and return his copy promptly.

Turned out this took me a week and a half to sit through… not a good sign for what is essentially sixty dollars spent on a wrestling show.
