So “Full Gear” was a running gag on the Being The Elite show where Hangman Page always shows up in these videos in his gear and people comment on his physique. This led to the “Full Gear Challenge” that prompted Page to trim up or something… and then somebody remembered Full Gear and decided it’d be a perfect name for a PPV.
Sure, why not? WWE has had stupid PPV names like Stomping Grounds and Great Balls Of Fire. Impact Wrestling has an upcoming PPV named after a Steven Seagal film.
But yes, this is All Elite Wrestling’s third PPV event following Double Or Nothing and All Out. I missed out on the live airing, but did catch the replay. So let’s get into it.
(2020 Update: This post features Joey Ryan and was written long before the Joey Ryan controversy broke out. The text remains as is, even if it doesn’t age as well.)
You know… I forgot that Impact was a thing that was being recorded on my DVR thing… so might as well look at last week’s episode because that’s all I got. I’m not going to do a full recap or anything like that because honestly, I wasn’t paying a whole lot of attention, sadly… but I’ve seen enough of a show to gather five talking points.
Less production and polish, more raw feeling… suits a movie of this ilk, I think.
First level is short… so have a boss rush to make up for it. Joy.
So WWE Backstage debuted and nobody watched it. Meanwhile, this adorable video of KANA cooking rice has more views (and potentially more viewers) than Backstage.
And to think that Backstage was the show they wanted to counter AEW with…
But enough about that. Please enjoy this KAWAI video of KANA cooking rice.
YAAAAAAYYYYYY!!!!!!!!
So, this has gotten up a little late and I do humbly apologize for that. It seems like it’s going to be harder to try and keep up these weekly write-ups… but honestly, I don’t mind doing them because it’s nice to write and post about something that I’m actually enjoying for once… and there hasn’t been much in the way of negative material as far as the output is concerned.
So I’ll try and keep doing these for as long as I can, but even if these stop, that doesn’t mean I won’t be watching the show because as I’ve said countless times, it’s the easiest two hours of wrestling I’ve watched each week.
So we got a PPV this weekend. Let’s see how they build to it.

Every time there’s a new Terminator movie, the first question I ask is… “Why?”

You know, if you’re going to just sell a download code, I don’t know why you’d bother with a box. It just comes off as stupid and a waste of resources. If I want a digital download, I’ll go to the shop and download the game. I don’t need an empty box taking up space.
Not pictured was a copy of SNK Heroines that was priced and sold for $29.99 at the discount bin. Wasn’t a repackaged game and it did include the game card… which is funny because over at Amazon, it costs ten bucks more. Sometimes, it pays off to visit the bargain bins in your local commercial areas.
I guess I’ll mention this because I’d be an asshole if I didn’t… not that I’d mind, but…
So they had Nattie vs. Lacey at the Crown Royal show in Saudi. First women’s wrestling match ever, apparently. My thoughts?
Cool.
That’s my only real reaction. I could go into how much of a big deal this is, but quite honestly, I don’t need to do so. Others have more or less covered that ground and I don’t need to be a parrot about that sort of thing. All I will say is that for all the so-called “history-making” moments that WWE would like to manufacture, the fact that they managed this match at all in Saudi is pretty cool.
And that’s really all I’ve got to say about that.
We now return to our moratorium from modern WWE.
