The Kingdom Come Superman For The Upcoming Crisis

So, good news, everyone. They kept the trunks, so we’ve got at least one Superman that has a semi-decent costume in this Crisis thing that’s coming towards the end of the year. And he fits the suit just fine, I think.

The bad news? I’m pretty sure that all the hype that’s building towards Brandon Routh reprising any semblance of Superman is going towards something that will probably last about five seconds before we have to stick with the usual gang of idiots that everyone says we’re supposed to care about, but actually don’t.

Meanwhile, I’m expecting Tom Welling to appear as a disembodied head pasted onto a CGI model of some Superman figure to keep up with his running gag of never appearing in the suit.

Dick Grayson Is Now Ric Grayson…

Because I guess the Bat-Dick was such a big deal…

But see, if they’re going to get rid of all the dicks, they have to kill off Superman.

After all, Superman is kind of a dick.

Oh well, I don’t see this lasting long and we’ll probably get another shitty reboot in a couple years.

Cavill No Longer Super… man

Source: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/henry-cavill-as-superman-warner-bros-dc-universe-shake-up-1142306

So Henry Cavill is no longer doing Superman movies… and apparently Ben Affleck might not be doing Batman amid his rehabbing issues… but Gal Gadot is still doing Wonder Woman, right? So, I guess we’re all good.

That sucks. Say what you will about the movies he’s been in, but I always thought Cavill had the potential to be a good Superman; the recent Justice League showed glimmers of hope on that point and I would’ve like to have seen him actually play Superman in a Superman movie… but alas, it is not to be.

As for Affleck… well, I hope all goes well with him in regards to his recent issues.

Slideshow Movie Review #30 – Batman v Superman: Yawn Of Justice (2016)

Full disclaimer; this was done last year and has been sitting around the hard drive for a long time. I’ve considered redoing it in light of recent movies released, but my opinion hasn’t really changed all that much on the film, so I opted to keep the old audio.

Power Rangers Reflections Redux #10 – The Ninja Encounter

So we’re dipping back into reposts for the next couple entries before the eventual new entry comes along. This is being done to not only keep up with entries, but also I want to get all the “old stuff” out of the day before we eventually start going into new material. We’ve got a couple big episodes down the pipe line to touch on and I rather have the wiggle room to get those looking nice before posting.

In any event, here’s a repost on the 3-part Ninja Encounter episode that introduced the world to the first set of replacement Power Rangers. It’s a rather long ramble that will cover all three parts, but don’t expect it to dig into great detail, as I’ll be passing over certain bits in the episode, including a sizable chunk in the middle for reasons I shall explain.

The second season of MMPR was notable because it had a ton of multi-parters. The season premiere episode was a 3-parter, the Green Ranger’s last hurrah was a 2-parter, the Wedding was a 3-parter. Even episodes that were irrelevant and pointless in the grand scheme of things were 2-parters… like Storybook Rangers or the one where the Rangers were turned into kids.

Today’s multipart extravaganza is not an insignificant storyline, but rather a pretty heavy storyline. It’s the one that introduced the world to three would-be nobodies who were brought in because half the Ranger cast held up for more money and were unceremoniously released, not even getting the benefit of best wishes on their future endeavors… wait, was I saying a whole lot?

A bit of backstory here; at some point during production of the second season, the Ranger trio of Austin St. John, Thuy Trang, and Walter Jones had left MMPR due to monetary conflicts… or some kind of conflict. In any case, half the Power Rangers had gone AWOL and the result was a series of episodes that would place more focus on the other half of the cast who stuck around, while the other half would be portrayed as either recycled footage, body doubles, bad ADR dubbers, or just ignored altogether. I think it was around the time the Green Ranger left that we started getting bad dub jobs for the guys who left and by the time we got to the obligatory Halloween episode (Zedd’s Monster Mash or something), the other three was getting less focus and more focus was placed on Tommy, Kimberly, and Billy… because they were still around.

Which brings us to the Ninja Encounter, a three-parter that really should have been less than that.

The Winners And Losers Of 2017

As I’m typing this first post of 2018, I am minutes away from falling asleep. So I just want to take the time to wish you and your loved ones a very happy and prosperous new year. Here’s to 365 days of good fortune, good health, and staying safe. Turning off the lights for now. Have a good one, folks. And please, drink responsibly.

With that having been said… it’s that time of year again… the annual Winners And Losers of 2017 has arrived in text form.

The good news is that, compared to 2016, 2017 is coming out like a lovely rose. There are certainly low points, sure, but not enough that they ruined the whole damn year for me. Not even “that fellow” in the Twit House or whatever is called.

The list is fairly short; about ten or twelve entries a piece with a few middle grounders. But for anyone wondering, the list does NOT include certain political figures (including a certain orange fellow who was voted into office), it does not include Capcom over their Mega Man 11 announcement (let’s wait until the game is released before we judge it, okay), and it does NOT include Mark Hamill… because why would it include Mark Hamill?

Anyway, on with the list… after the break.

WWE Summerslam 2017

Another year, another Summerslam, another marathon of shit.

As per the case with these things, I don’t watch the pre-show. But apparently, Neville won back the Cruiserweight title he lost on Monday and the Usos won back the Smackdown tag titles they lost to the New Day last month or so. Also, Shawn Michaels found a new job dressing up as some old guy. Other than that, nothing of note happened.

So, let’s begin, shall we?

Congratulations To Batman V. Superman for its Razzie Presence

The 37th Annual Golden Raspberry Awards has awarded their Razzies this past weekend and I felt due to give my congratulations to the very prestigious and deserving Batman V. Superman: Yawn Of Justice feature film in its numerous nominations and award wins. No doubt Zack Snyder, DC, and Warner Bros. are thrilled by being nominated for seven categories (and TWICE in one area) and winning four of them. I mean, that doesn’t take a whole lot, but goddamn, kid, that’s quite an accomplishment nonetheless.

WWF Over The Edge 1998

So, for no reason whatsoever… and because I’ve had this write-up on my hard drive just sitting there, I’ll be musing on an old WWF Pay-Per-View event from 1998, when the Attitude Era was in full swing. Here’s a fun fact: this was the first full WWF PPC that I ever saw back in the day and was probably the show that sold me on getting the PPVs on a regular basis. It was a fun ride and that’s all I’ve got for an intro.

Sad digression note before the break: there are two WWF PPVs that bares the Over The Edge moniker; today’s subject matter that took place in 98 and the following year’s PPV. The second OTE PPV is the one where Owen Hart lost his life in that accident. Before anyone asks, I will NOT be talking about that show anytime soon for the simple reason that I don’t have the show. So… I thought I’d get that out of the way.

Anyway, digression over. Let’s get on with some musings of an ancient show.
