Review #175 – Street Fighter X Mega Man (PC)

(2019 Update: Replaced the old review with an updated edit that upgrades the quality considerably. It’s the same review, except now there’s functional gameplay to go along with it. Also, this version is roughly half a minute shorter, cutting out my original issues running the game on ancient hardware and somewhat necessitating an upgrade in hardware.)

This Show Sucks

A no-holds-barred match between Brock Lesnar and HHH, with McSon-In-Law’s career on the line? That’s the best you can come up with? Whatever, I honestly don’t care about this match, either way. And yeah, a company executive beating up on a Jewish guy TOTALLY makes me want to root for the guy. Go fuck yourself, H.

One has to wonder how the build to CM Punk/Undertaker would have been if Paul Bearer hadn’t died. One also has to wonder why I should feel slighted that Undertaker would be offended by Punk’s so-called besmirching of Bearer’s name. I don’t recall ‘Taker being the least bit pained when he buried Paul Bearer in see-ment back in 2004… in any case, I still don’t care about this match one bit.

Am I the only one getting fed up with this fucking Fandungo crap already?

So how do you promote the most unneeded rematch in Wrestlemania history with the most predictable outcome in human history? By replaying the same overblown hype video you showed off last week. Seriously, it seems like they’re just phoning this one because they know people will buy the show regardless of how this is being sold.

Mark Henry’s stuck with Ryback… The poor guy deserves better considering the awesome run he had before getting sidelined.

How sad is it that Alberto Del Rio is so popular as a fan favorite that when he’s in the ring, people are chanting USA? Even sadder is when Jack Swagger is doing dastardly deeds, the chants get slightly louder.

How much did TNA pay for those folks to throw in garbage at the ring during their Lockdown PPV? Because we need folks like those to trash this crap. I’m not even going to dignify this shit with the “Bella Twins” gag I usually pull out. THIS SHOW SUCKS, with no stories told and nothing playing out.

RAW (March 11th, 2013) – This RAW sucks.

Quick notes:

This is the first time I’m watching RAW in HD and it looks about the same as an SD show. I honestly cannot tell the difference.

Figured they’d go with the whole Paul Bearersploitation thing this early on. But hey, I guess people have a reason to want Taker to kick CM Punk’s ass… and at the very least, Kane was upset by this sudden slight against his daddy… As for the match… I was just watching the PVR’ed show and I found myself wanting to go to bed. And on top of that, none of this made me give two shits about this match.

Speaking of matches I don’t give two shits about, Brock Lesnar agrees to give McSon-In-Law his win back. And he does this by beating up the Old Age Outlaws… wait a minute. I’m sorry, for a second there, I thought I was watching WCW.

And while we’re at it, let’s play a video package for a championship match I honestly don’t give two shits about.

So… the Bella Twins are back. Not sure if this is a good thing or not, but hey, I guess I can bring back that old running gag I used to do. Let me dust it off a bit… “Why do the Bella Twins still have jobs?”

Too soon?

You know… a thought just occurred to me. Since they’re calling Jack Swagger a “Real American” and all that, wouldn’t it make sense for him to come out to “Real American?” I mean, sure, it’d be a dickish move of sorts, but… my train of thought was just lost as I realized how utterly horrible Dutch Mantell’s beard look. I guess razors and trimmers aren’t “Real American” enough.

Fandango… Touts… Shitty movie trailers… these are all things that should be destroyed forever.

Good lord, this show sucks.

Random Thoughts On… The AVGN Movie Teaser Poster

So Cinemassacre posted the artwork for the teaser poster for the upcoming Angry Video Game Nerd movie that is coming this lifetime or something. It’s a nice looking poster. Mostly monochrome, mostly dark, but I rather like it.

Unfortunately, the poster does a good job of misleading me into believing that this is going to be something of a dark horror comedy sort of film rather than the schlock that the teaser trailer has been showcasing. In fact, a dark horror comedy film starring the Nerd character has the potential to be the much more interesting film that could potentially give that franchise a worthwhile production. I know Rolfe could pull it off if he wanted to… but he won’t.

And it’s a shame, because in my mind, that’s probably what he’s best at.
