A bunch of random stuff is touched upon in this riveting edition of the DTM-Cast… that is the right word, isn’t it?

It’s like Tetris, but with words… not really, but just humor me, yeah?
Originally intended to be a celebration of the Angry Nintendo Nerd’s initial 2006 episode on Karate Kid for NES before I decided on the commentary of the episode itself. Slightly edited.

Recently picked up this piece of business and am currently playing through its “massive” library of games. Much to my own surprise, Dreamgear is still a thing because this is a recent product with a copyright date of 2016. The quality of the games is as you’d expect something like this to be, but there are a couple decent titles on here that wouldn’t be out of place on a proper console (with the proper polish, of course.)
Of course, this being a portable device with an A/V output (but no A/V cable; I needed to supply that bit myself), this will no doubt be a subject matter of a major video to be released some time this year. I’ll let you know when to expect that.
Just as an excuse to revive this thing, here’s a re-up of the last time I touched a DreamGEAR product.

More like Charlie’s Nauseum…
So, there’s a new Star Trek series coming out. It’s gonna be called Discovery, it’s gonna be on CBS Access, Bell Media, and Internation Netflix services, it’s due in early-2017, and it features the worst looking starship design in the history of the universe. Just the overall layout of the ship makes my head hurt and I doubt any considerable amounts of polishing will change my perspective on this.
Um… er, I mean… cool. We need more robots. Robots get no love.
That is all.
So as of this day, I am a year older. Something that is normally to be celebrated among family and friends with much fanfare, I suppose. I, on the other hand, will be working and will come home with a piece of cake at most to remind myself of the occasion. That, to me, is more than adequate for an occasion that I generally no-sell these days.
There used to be a time when I’d be looking forward to my birthday. The gathering of folks, the delicacies to be devoured, and of course, the presents to be had. Hell, there used to be a time when I’d be looking forward to a lot of birthdays this month. We’d attend all the parties, exchange gifts, and enjoy each other’s company.
Nowadays… not so much.
The last time I went to a birthday party was last year and while it was the same sort of party that we’d usually get, the vibe was different. Maybe it’s due to a lot of new faces, maybe it’s due to everyone being older and different from times past, but I felt a little… out of touch, I guess. I wasn’t enjoying myself as much as I’d used to. Probably because tastes have changed. I can’t say for sure.
The last time I had a genuine birthday party of my own seems like ages ago. The closest thing we’d get to that would be an annual dinner at the Casa Grecque with the folks and big brother. And that’s fine by me. I don’t even look forward to the gifts anymore; it’s mostly money and a couple birthday cards with well wishes. Not met with disappointment or excitement; just… thanks and best wishes. Not exactly a rousing welcome to another year on this earth.
And so I treat this as a day like any other. I work during the day (a rare occurance considering I usually go evenings), I head home for dinner, I do some stuff, and I go to bed. I’m sure there’s a cake somewhere in the middle and that’s about as far as I’m willing to go as far as personal affairs.
Also, this is pretty much how I think in the morning. Maybe it changes later on… then again, perhaps not. We’ll see.
Well, I’m off. Will catch you later.

Another old pic from the archives. From back when Sacha had more hair than a Wookie.

The news broke that Dixie Carter has stepped down as TNA President and Billy Corgan (the Smashing Pumpkins guy) will take over, while Dixie will be Chairperson. People are treating this like the greatest night in the history of our sport or whatever, but it’s too soon to tell whether this’ll make any difference in the long term.
At the end of the day, it boils down to whether people will care enough about TNA to start following it or not. If TNA could start getting their numbers (and their notability) up bit by bit, then Billy ends up looking like a million bucks. And if not, it’s not going to matter how many pumpkins get smashed or something.
On the bright side, people have stopped talking about TNA going out of business. So that’s something, I guess.
