Not a wide load… but something.
About The Hasbro Deal…
So I suppose I should offer my five-cents on the news regarding Hasbro’s acquisition of the entire Power Rangers brand from Saban and what my thoughts are on the matter. I could offer my thoughts on the matter, but the only thought that comes to mind is… meh.
I suppose there are concerns going forward. After all, the brand has changed hands twice before and the change in leadership has somehow degraded the overall product even further down. The Disney-era stuff started off well enough despite early misgivings before falling somewhat off the rails and while I haven’t seen enough of the current “Neo-Saban” line of products to form a solid opinion, what little I have seen hasn’t given me much hope.
I guess there is something of a cautious optimism and perhaps even hope for the best in that Hasbro will bring the brand to bigger heights. I’d like to think that, given the numerous properties under their belt, they’ll treat the brand as well as they did those, for whatever that’s worth, of course. I mean, they got a new logo that looks current yet slick. They’ve got a new season based on a somewhat ancient Super Sentai series that has something of a unique look. It’s a promising start, if nothing else.
In any event, I shall wait and see where this leads. And then I either praise them to the heavens or damn them to hell.
Or, you know, I’ll just shrug my shoulders and move on with my life.
WWE Backlash 2018
So I ended up watching Backlash after all and holy balls, it wasn’t a ten-hour marathon as feared, but your usual three and a half hour borefest… well, it’s something, I guess.
(Full disclosure; I wrote that intro BEFORE the show began and it turns out I wasn’t far off the mark. Even so, these idiots need to time themselves better because nothing they do these days is worth three hours of my night, let alone anything over that number.
But, I digress. On with the show, I suppose.
Genesis In The (Flash)Back

Because when Nintendo sells cardboard, they need the space and something has to go to the back.
By the way, there are just as many Genesis Flashback units here as there were a month or two ago. Meanwhile, those Atari Flashback things are long gone. Obviously, the SNES Classic Edition Killer, this thing is not. And hopes aren’t going to be high on their Mini Mega Drive debacle.
Doggy Ponders…

Taken a couple weeks ago, shortly after Doggy was groomed and trimmed.
Sadly for Matt Smith, she doesn’t think that bow ties are cool and was quickly removed before she went to bed.
A Single Game Or 300 For Thirty Bucks?

Which is the better deal?
Answer: Get a budget game for your Xbox instead.
Random Stuff
So next Monday will see a new doggy video that will have a slight announcement regarding the next couple months of video material. Then on Tuesday, there will be a pick-ups video. Wednesday and Thursday will see video reviews and finally on Friday, a DTM Rambles video on Ataribox… because that seems a bit more relevant than the Sega/ATGames partnership (and there’s actual new details that I’ve been waiting on.)
Is there anything being planned for May 4th? Nope. However, I may be going to see that new Avengers flick. Finally got around to watch that Thor movie and I thought it was quite a bit of fun. A drastically different tone from the two earlier films, but still a good time to be had with a couple funny moments and some top notch super heroics. There’s still that Black Panther movie, but I’ll wait for the DVD on that one.
The 100-Post Challenge II is taking place in July. A good chunk of the text based material is either being worked done or ready to go. The details are still being worked on, but there’s going to be some old features making a comeback, some new features getting a test run, and more of the usual stuff.
This, along with the possible mass load, will be the make-up for the lack of material as of late and while I run the risk of pushing quantity over quality, I think I’ve done enough checking over and over to the point where I think there’s a nice balance. In any event, 2018 is going to be a busy year… I hope.
Anyway, that’s it for now.
Later.
WWE Bad Blood 2003
Although the brand split started shortly after Wrestlemania X-8 in 2002, the idea of brand-specific PPVs didn’t become a thing until a year afterwards. So in lieu of another King of the Ring PPV, we got the first RAW-branded PPV in Bad Blood. The last time there was a WWE PPV called Bad Blood, it was in 1997 and there was one more “d” in Bad. Also, that show had the first-ever Hell In A Cell match… so guess what we’re having with this show? And not only that, but it’s going to be for the RAW World title! Oh, boy! This is going to be exciting!
Just one problem; it’s 2003, the World champion is McSon-In-Law and the challenger is Kevin Nash, fresh off a year recovering from the quad tear that turned into a meme… and with Mick Foley as the referee for some reason. This didn’t instill me with much enthusiasm back in the day and it’s no better this time around.
For interested parties, I did a predictions post on my old blog back in 2003. It is subsequently one of the few WWE PPVs where I got every single prediction right. That post was subsequently reposted a couple years ago with some added thoughts, but since I’ve been able to watch the shows again, I’ve decided to go back and give these “proper” write-ups or something. For the sake of posteriry, I provide a link to the repost of the original post.
Progress Report: Good Enough To Have A Laptop On My Lap
So after two weeks of being bedridden and stuff, my leg is feeling a hell of a lot better and I’ve been moving around a lot more easily. Still got a week to go before I’m back to work and I’ve still got some moving around to do before I can safely say that I’m well enough to do some heavy stuff, but at the very least, I can keep a laptop on my lap for an hour or so while on the recliner, so that means I’m getting some of the written stuff out of the way.
To re-iterate what’s been said in a previous post, I plan on resuming video uploads next Monday. The first new video up will be a DTM Rambles video and will probably touch on the whole Sega/ATGames partnership that seems almost detrimental. I would’ve liked to have touched on the whole Ataribox/VCS thing if more details on the project were forthcoming, but other than vague mentions that has been copied and pasted on various news sites, there hasn’t been anything truly substantial in that regard. As such, I’ve opted to hold off on that topic for a much later episode.
Reviews are also progressing rather smoothly. I’m hoping to start building on that backlog and have enough to hold over for the next four or five months, even with a couple of those months being really heavy loads… but I’ll get to that stuff later down the road.
Anyway, that’s it for now. I’m off to bed. Later.
Not So Greatest Royal Ramble: The 2018 Oil Rumble
FUN FACT
The Oil Rumble is the name of an actual porno film that exists. For this reason and also for reasons that might be offensive to their new customers, the WWE opted to dubbed their Saudi Arabia event The “Greatest” Royal Rumble. As one can tell from history, whenever you slap on the word “Greatest” onto anything, you’re only setting yourself up for disappointment and indeed, that’s what we got here in droves.
For all the hype that WWE has put behind the event, for all the controversy it has garnered due to the lack of women on the show and having to do business with a backwards group of people that really sullies the credibility of Saudi Arabia, and for all of the hoopla and discussions that has been brought forth as a result, this big WWE show that touted numerous championship bouts, a meeting between 2 WWE veterans, a Casket match, and a 50-man Royal Rumble turned out to be a standard, run of the mill house show that ended up being a complete and utter waste of time if you were going into this expecting anything of any real significance to happen here.
But, in any event, let’s go through the matches real quick.
