WWE Summerslam 2018

Yeah, well… I have a life, you know. I ain’t sitting down for a long-ass four-hour PPV every month just to fill up post count. I’ve got plenty of lazy doodles off my phone I could upload for that.

So I watched some of Summerslam, right up to the WWE Championship match and that’s probably the only way I could go on with this WWE PPV business if I remember there was a PPV going on. And then as the week went along, I’d watch the rest of the show… took me a couple shots to get through the whole thing, but I did it. This is probably the only way I could watch these long-ass shows going forward, but anyway, let’s get this over with…

Big Bang Theory To End Next May… Thank Fuck For That

Source: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/22/business/media/big-bang-theory-ending.html

The Big Bang Theory, the most popular series among geeks for whatever reason that began way back in 2007, is going to end its run after a whopping twelve seasons… and thank fuck for that.

I remember watching this show in its early days and being rather unimpressed by it. While there was some moments of brief entertainment – anything involving Wil Wheaton of all people – for the most part, it was just an irritating show that somehow got watched by a whole bunch of stupid people and I could never get into. When I watch a show, I usually stick around because the characters are likable and maybe even relatable to a certain extent… and Big Bang Theory featured neither of these traits in any of these characters, who come off as unlikeable, self-entitled assholes and stereotypes… much like modern-day social media.

Hey, no wonder why I couldn’t get into this show!

NWA Bunkhouse Stampede ’88

Shifting gears here… going from a miserable year for WWE to what some claim to be a rather miserable PPV event brought to you by Dusty Rhodes, Jim Crockett Promotions, and the National Wrestling Alliance. Well, considering how miserable I’ve been watching the McSon-In-Law Reign Of Terror in full swing bit by bit, I’m fairly certain that this will… look, this is the first time I’m watching this show. I’ve heard so many horrible things about this show and despite this, I’d really wouldn’t mind giving a shot and seeing it for myself.

And I’m already regretting it… but why is that?

Did you not read the banner text?

WWF Summerslam 1992

Sorry about the delay… but I hid myself to repair myself over the past couple days… yeah, that’s it.

Anyway, we turn the clock back to 1992, where Summerslam is airing in England and we have an Intercontinental championship match main eventing the show, with champion Bret Hart defending against the challenger and hometown favorite, the British Bulldog. This is one of the few instances where an Intercontinental championship match closing out the show over the WWF title match makes sense; because it’s British Bulldog’s home turf, it’s going to be a hot match with a hot crowd, and it’s not a fucking Iron Man match.

WWE should watch more WWF shows.

Anyway…

Power Rangers Reflections Redux #13 – The Fifth Crystal

Sad truth: this was done ages ago and I put it off for a short while with the intention of getting back to it and giving it a final polish before publication. Turns out to be months later. Oh well. Better late than never, I suppose.

So today’s episode in question is from Lightspeed Rescue and this is a somewhat random choice in episode, because I honestly don’t recall much of my initial impressions regarding this particular episode, so in terms of past reflections, I’m afraid I’ve got very little to offer in that regard. Still, at least there is some attempt at varying this on-and-off subseries of write-ups beyond the MMPR comfort zone.

Note: this episode is dedicated in memory of Bob Mahanan, the voice actor of Zordon who passed away around that time.
