WWE Wrestlemania Backlash 2021

I hadn’t planned on watching this show. I had better things to do. Walk my dog, scratch my balls, that sort of thing.

But when friends of mine (who shall no longer be called friends after this night) told me to give the show a watch, I couldn’t help but be curious as to what was so special about this show… actually, that’s a lie. I knew about the thing that made this show the talk of the town. I knew about it since the show aired. I heard it on F4W. I heard it on Scott Keith’s blog. The Youtubes made their thoughts known. I figured, “Yeah. Not wasting my time.”

Those buddies I mentioned? They mentioned that thing didn’t last long and the show was, for the most part, excellent. After seeing the show, I don’t know if I would go that far, but it was certainly a show that is… probably only going to be known for one thing… anyhoo, onwards.

DLC Disguised As Plastic Toys

Source: https://www.engadget.com/legend-of-zelda-skyward-sword-hd-zelda-loftwing-amiibo-183316002.html

Nintendo sells plastic toy that unlocks feature in game, making feature locked behind a pay toy. If there is any example of the devil hidden in plain sight, there you go. Everyone will complain about the multitude of lootboxes and needless DLCs from the other third-party companies, but Nintendo gets a free pass because the toys are cute.

To put it another way, the video game industry is a bunch of Malibu Stacy dolls, but Nintendo has a hat.

Figure that one out, kids. I’m out.

The Rumored Superman Film And The Trap It Faces

This is a rough transcript of something I talked about on the last episode of the DTM-Cast, but for those who want a more clear descriptor, here it is. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I try my best to explain it, but otherwise, there are places that could bring you up to speed better than I could.

AEW Dynamite (May 19th, 2021): Don’t Say The Date

It’s May 19th… Mayor Glen knows what that means…

Not much to say about this show. Opened with a good Christian Cage/Matt Sydal match, fun tag match between the Acclaimed and Mox/Kingston, a really good match between Serena Deeb and Red Velvet, and finally, the Young Bucks retain the titles over the Varsity Blonds, only to get their shoes stolen by Mox and Kingston.

This was mostly about the promos, which were largely good… the only exception being that Jade person, but I’ll lay off her for now since she didn’t say that she was “that bitch.”

Promos, kids. The show had ’em. Great promo from the Blonds hyping up their match, telling us how the Bucks showed them things aren’t dark on that side of the ring and how the current Bucks are a far cry from those upstarts. There’s a good promo with Mox and Kingston hyping up their match with the Acclaimed, followed by a sick rap from Max Caster. There’s a nice bit with Jericho and Dean Malenko that calls back to a rather popular and “meme-worthy” segment from the olden days of WCW that I thought was pretty cute. Awesome Pinnacle promo from the dinner table, followed by a great Inner Circle promo.

Needless to say, lots of great building towards their PPV and probably a good idea to get it all out now before the playoffs starts fucking around with the scheduling. That move to TBS apparently can’t come soon enough.

AEW Moving To TBS In 2022, New AEW Rampage Show Debuts In August

Source: https://www.f4wonline.com/aew-news/aew-moving-tbs-2022-four-tnt-specials-new-show-announced-341826

Wasn’t able to catch last night’s Dynamite show, but heard it was a good push towards the PPV and featured Rebel in a match… the same Rebel who had that match with Shelley in TNA ages ago. The less said, the better. On the flip side, Serena Deeb made her return to action and didn’t miss a beat. So I’ll try and catch the show during the weekend… anything to cleanse the pallet of the zombies.
Instead, I want to touch on the news regarding AEW moving to TBS next year, which a lot of people have mixed feelings about. I don’t know if I’m ready to wave the white flag yet. Yes, TNA has switched networks over the years to diminishing returns, but so has Smackdown, going from UPN to CW to SciFi (I refuse to called SiFy or whatever) to USA to its current home on FOX. Hell, even RAW left USA Network for TNN (later Spike, later Paramount? I think…) and then back to USA. As I recall, those moves have been relatively positive. So no, AEW to TBS isn’t going to be a bad thing, especially if it means not getting pre-emptied by basketball and hockey, which were more than likely on TNT, as evident by next week’s show taking place on a Friday.
Besides, TNT isn’t going to be left out of the dust; they’re getting FOUR quarterly specials; presumably the special editions of Dynamite that AEW would normally host. So that’s more programming for AEW… and that’s not even bringing up the debut of the mythical third hour of AEW called Rampage… all the jokes I will make on this one…
For the moment, I think things are looking up for the next year. As far as beyond is concerned, we’ll see. But for now, everything is just fine.
Um… wrong choice of words, perhaps.

WCW Wrestlewar 1992

Before anyone asks… yes, I somehow managed to finagle time to watch the Backlash show… no, I will not musing on it. I want to muse on something good. You’ll get your helping next week, so… that’s something, I guess.

So botched ending, that Blood & Guts match from AEW a couple weeks was pretty fun and prompted me to pop onto the WWE Network – because I can do that still here in Canada – and check out an old Wargames show. Didn’t want to watch any of the WCW/nWo shenanigans and I qasn’t feeling anything from the Crockett years… but there was one show I’ve heard good things about and that was Wrestlewar 1992, with the main event being the Wargames between Sting’s Squadron and the Dangerous Alliance.

You’ve got my attention with this one kids.

A Reminder Of The Long-Defunct Vidme

So while digging through this old tablet thing, I came across this update post dated November 2017 entitled “Vidme Progress Report”. Vidme, for those who don’t know, was an alternative video site that I came across and began adopting as a back-up for the Youtube and Dailymotion pages, since those had… issues. I recall uploading quite a bit of material on there until the site eventually shut down due to lack of funds.

To the best of my knowledge, only one or two videos that were part of the Vidme run failed to make the cut. I still have most of the videos from on there, including alternate cuts of older reviews and it’s my hope that those videos will eventually see the light of day once more.

Anyway, here’s the post in question… for old times sake:

“For those who care for this sort of thing…

“I just finished uploading the last twenty or so reviews of last year (501 to 520) onto the Vidme channel and they’ll be “shared” online on a daily basis when there isn’t new content. Sad to say that the conversion and slight editing of this older content to prep it for re-upload on this alternate video sharing service is what’s been taking up most of my time as of late. And this is one of the few things I’ll be addressing on the Sunday vlog.”

Did I mention how much I miss Vidme?
