My Reaction To A New Doom Movie Coming Out

You know… I had this Ramble video planned out and the audio recorded… but because it’s a video game movie starring a female protagonist… and apparently, played by one of those tiny actresses and not one with a more imposing physique so as to not completely obliterate my suspension of disbelief… but I guess getting an actual badass MMA woman was out of the movie budget… sorry, I’m going off on a tangent, am I?

Listen, if anything, I’ll include the audio onto the next DTM-Cast, but as far as the movie goes… anyone remember the last video game movie that had “annihilation” in its title?

This Paints A Grim Picture

I don’t remember where I found this image; probably a message board somewhere, but when you look at that image and the information it reveals… it paints a pretty grim picture in regards to the current state of Star Wars gaming.

The truly sad thing? For all the arguments made regarding “quantity over quality”, a good chunk of the quantity above actually ended up being quality products while the two games below… well, neither quality or quantity qualify in any regard.

I guess I found something to ramble about.

New Pokemon Generation? Not For Me.

So, for those who missed the news, the next generation of Pokemon games, dubbed Sword and Shield, will be hitting the Nintendo Switch this year and this is certainly going to excite the diehard Pokemon fans who are into the franchise and stuck with it for so long.

Naturally, I’m not one of those people. My only experience with Pokemon was the first generation on Game Boy. Red, Blue, and Yellow. I’ve seen some of the anime, saw the First Movie, and even dabbled in that Pokemon Go game that was a hit a year or so ago.

After that first generation, I sort of drifted away from the franchise and when I peek back in, there’s suddenly hundreds of Pokemon in the litter and too much information to digest. Not only are there new generation games, but there are also remakes of the older generation titles on stronger hardware and now Pikachu’s a detective and… what the hell is going here?

For the younger folks and for those with way too much time on their hands who can invest themselves into learning the intricacies of all these various incarnations and whatnots, more power to you. It’s great to see a franchise last for two decades and still go pretty strong. Pokemon in its current form might not be my cup of tea, but for those who enjoy it, I hope this next wave turns out well and becomes as much of a hit as its predecessors.

Cheers.

Rajah Is The Only Wrestling Site To Break The Tim Hortons Web Barrier

So a bit of back story; every so often, I will frequent the local Timmy’s for a cup of joe and usually like to frequent the web. The thing with Tim’s free WiFi is that, for some strange reason, it has a filter that blocks anyone from visiting any dedicated pro wrestling websites. This was noted by former fencebuilder Lance Storm via a tweet, but I’ve seen the filter through personal experience. Even this blog sometimes falls suspect to this filter (although that might’ve been a fluke since it loads normally now.)

One wrestling-related site broke through the filter; rajah.com. For whatever reason, that one site loads up perfectly fine despite its content being focused on that damned fake rasslin. No reason what’s so special about this one… maybe it’s the name.

Anyway, for those who frequent Timmy’s and want their wrestling fix, go to rajah.com. It goes through the filter.

Work Or Shoot? Who Cares? Life Goes On And We Boo Roman…

Yes, that is indeed Roman’s back.

Anyway, good to hear that all is well with Joe and he’ll be back in action sooner than later. While I’m sure some folks will find the timing of all this somewhat dubious – and believe me, I wouldn’t put it past WWE to use an actual terminal disease as a gimmick to try and get one of their stars over – I give them the benefit of the doubt and set aside my cynicism for once.

Some time later, I went to a wrestling page’s comment session and noticed someone thinking this whole Roman thing is a work and being called a lowlife as a result. I posted the following as a reply and thought it’d be worth reposting here.

“To be fair, given what they’ve done in the past with other somewhat sensitive topics, I wouldn’t put it past WWE to use someone’s real-life illness as a cheap gimmick to try and get someone over. Hell, given the timing and the tweets regarding his acting, there have been times when I would question whether this whole ordeal is real or just another sad attempt at trying to get Roman over… because “this time, for sure, pal.” And that does bother me quite a bit.

“So I’m not shocked that some people would believe this whole thing to be a complete fabrication nor do I think of them as callous or mean-spirited. However, I believe this case to be genuine and am happy to hear that Joe is doing well and on his way to getting back on the road. As far as I’m concerned, that’s the only thing that really matters here.

“Let others believe what they believe. If they’re wrong, they’re wrong. And if it turns out they’re right, they’re right. So what? Life goes on and Roman gets booed again sooner or later because we’re suppose to hate Roman or whatever the current narrative is.”

Anyway, that’s that.

Welcome back, Roman.

The pool on when he gets booed again is open.

Wrestlemania from 1980… But Don’t Tell Vince Jr.

From Twitter user @tweetpaulobrien:

“There was apparently a “Wrestlemania” in my home town (small town, Ireland) in 1980—five years before WWF’s event.

Anyone know anything about this?”

So, I guess in WWE “canon” such as it is, this night would be Wrestlemania Zero.

This is a neat find, though.
