About The TNA Impact Video Game…

Here’s another mention of TNA… anyone remember the Impact video game?

I think it came out in 2009 or something for the PS3 and Xbox 360, but there was also a PS2 version that I ended up snagging. The PS2 version was naturally stripped down from the higher-end consoles of the time; it even lacked the Create-A-Wrestler feature that the other versions had, which severely killed the potential replay value for me. Regardless, I had bought it fairly new back in the day, it came with a bonus DVD of TNA’s best matches… something I might take a look at once of these days.

I haven’t touched it all that much, to be honest. I think I sampled it for a couple days before storing it on the shelve and never looked back. From what I recall, I didn’t think it was a terrible game or anything, but it’s not something that has me coming back for me. Maybe if there was a CAW feature on there, I’d spend more time on it… but honestly, you’d need something really special to break me away from the WWE games and their Universe mode.

Maybe some day, Geordi. Maybe some day, I’ll give that game another shot.

Ring Of Honor Leaving Destination America, Finds A New Network In Comet

I don’t know what this COMET channel happens to be since I’ve never heard of it and I’m not American, but good for ROH. They found another non-Sinclair network to air their show on. It’s unfortunate that TNA isn’t as forthcoming in regards to their television future. Oh well.

Yeah, About That Rousey Fight…

Was it truly a shock that she lost? Not really; it was bound to happen sooner or later… though I would’ve expected it to be later. But was it as big of a deal as everyone made it out to be? Again, not really. Ronda got humbled the old-country way. And when the eventual rematch comes around, it’ll probably be treated as a big deal and you’ll see if Ronda can get her win back or just get another beating.

As for me… well, no fucks were given the day Ronda Rousey lost… I was too busy playing TIE Fighter to care.

You Know, Lt. Yar's Death Isn't A Problem

Over the years, I tend to hear complaints about things. And sometimes, I don’t agree with them.

Case in point; I was watching the Star Trek TNG episode “Skin Of Evil,” where Tasha Yar is killed off by some oil slick monster during an away mission. Some people thought the death was pointless, meaningless, worthless, and a betrayal of the character. Hell, the whole reason “Yesterday’s Enterprise” was a thing that brought her back was so she could have a more meaningful death – dying fighting rather than because she got sucker-punched to death by an oil monster.
I don’t see the issue here.
Space is a wonderful place, but it is also a dangerous place. It has dangers that could be conquered, but it also has dangers that can kill you without a warning. Starfleet is a thankless job and sometimes, death comes when you least expect it. How many red shirts died in the original series that made you think, “Gee, this guy deserves a better death scene?”
Denise Crosby wanted out, so they killed her character off. Was it a good death? Probably not, but it did come out of nowhere. It served to remind people that shit happens and suddenly, one of you is not coming home. Not everyone gets a happy, meaningful death. Some folks die in the worst, most throwaway sort of way and it’s a bloody shame… or a sham.
Besides, think of it this way. Yar died while on duty the first time, then she was executed during a prison escape. Which is the better deal when you think about it? Bring on the flipping TAR MONSTER OF DEATH!
So there’s my 28-year late retort to that point.

Seth Rollins Injured, New WWE Champion To Be Crowned At Survivor Series

Well, that sucks for Rollins. Despite the overall shitty booking of his character, the guy could work wonders when given the opportunity. Word is he’ll be out six to eight months, meaning he’ll miss out on Mania, for whatever that’s worth. In any case, wishing nothing but the best for Seth and hope he makes a speedy recovery.

And with that, we can expect a new champion crowned at Survivor Series and no doubt it’ll probably be Roman, because why wouldn’t it be?

Classic Game Room… Sigh.

So… if you haven’t heard the news, Mark Bussler of Classic Game Room fame has announced that the show will be scaled back considerably to a smaller form factor come 2016. This means the end of CGRUndertow (which I never cared for, but it had its fans), the end of the current CGR website of which I was a proud user of, and far fewer videos compared to the output of the past several years.

Apparently, Youtube revenue or lack thereof is to blame here and CGR can no longer sustain itself as a business… hence the scale back.

This is the harsh reality of making income based strictly on Youtube. One day, you’re making huge bank and everyone loves you… and then all of a sudden, it’s all gone and you’re forced to look elsewhere.

I am going to be flip-flopping on the issue for quite some time, but for the moment, I can only wish Mark and company all the best in their future endeavors and hope all goes well in the coming years.

In the meantime, I’ll go back and watch that Kasumi Ninja review.
