Fun With Star Wars: TIE Fighter DEMO (Long Form)

Over a half hour of me playing the TIE Fighter Demo that was released a few months before the full game came out. A drastically different beast from the final product. The quality isn’t the best (frame rate is kinda crap), but it should give people an idea on how the demo played.

A significantly shorter video with some rambling will be added on the main channel in a short bit.

Jar Jar Binks NOT Appearing In The Force Awakens…. THANK THE MAKER

From producer and Lucasfilm head honcho herself, Kathleen Kennedy pretty much gives Star Wars fans the “No Jar Jar Guarantee” that they’ve been looking. So now Mark Bussler can sleep well and anticipate this newest film like most people would. And quite frankly, so can I.

So When's That TIE Fighter Review?

With the old X-Wing and TIE Fighter games having graced GOG.com and now with proper means of recording footage of these games on hand, the question that has hung in the back of my head is when the eventual reviews for these games – but primarily TIE Fighter – will eventually grace the interwebs.

More than likely it’ll be later than sooner.

Here’s the thing with TIE Fighter. It’s a big game; not necessarily in terms of size (though it has plenty of that), but also in terms of my own personal history with the game. It’s one of the few PC games that I can safely say I’ve spent more time playing than most others. And while back in the GameFAQs days I would’ve been more than content to do a quick rubbish review, when it comes to the video version, I want to give it a little more care.

It’s a big game, a personal favorite, and something that I’d want to give it proper reverence.

I don’t know when or even if this video review will be out. It might not even be a review; it could be something else entirely… but when it’s on the verge of being unleashed, I will most definitely let you know.

The Nerd Does Bad Game Box Art… because sure, why not?

So this year, as part of an “advent” event, The Nerd does bad video game cover art… because sure, why not?

On the one hand, it’s not a bad idea to showcase some horrific covers. After all, sometimes a game’s cover is the only determining factor in whether it’s going to get your money and that cover has to convey exactly what the game is going to be about. Sometimes, it works and other times, it doesn’t. I’m sure the subject of game covers have been touched on, but bad game covers has only been the subject of shitty top 10 videos or lists. So a video series focusing on bad covers isn’t such a bad idea.

On the other hand… it’s the Nerd.

In the hands of a capable person, this could’ve been a good series. In the hands of James Rolfe, it’s just another excuse to dwell into bad jokes and pseudo-intellectual bullshit that will fool people into thinking that there’s deep and thought-provoking humor in here.

The first two entries, thus far, have been underwhelmingly bland. As a funny look into bad box art, it somewhat fails, with the only humor coming from the box itself and not necessarily any of the Nerd’s words. As something that could be an examination of these artistic missteps… it’s the Nerd. Nothing of any real worth comes out of these episodes that you can’t just look up on Wikipedia or the aforementioned shitty Top 10 lists.

But, hey, you know what? There’s hope that this’ll develop into something decent. After all, it’s hard to base an entire series on two mere entries. Maybe there’s something to do that that will eventually emerge after a while.

But, then again… it’s the Nerd.
