Feed The Beast… Or Something…

This gimmick deserves to be served on a table… on a Sunday, no less.
Maybe this weekend…
TNA Impact (January 23rd, 2025) – “Say His Name” Shouldn’t Apply To REDACTED
The first LIVE episode of IMPACT in eight years opens with newly minted TNA World Champion Joe Hendry coming out and sending out an open invitation for anyone from anywhere to step up and challenge him for his new title. This immediately brings out Santino Marella – yes, for those who don’t regularly watch TNA, SANTINO MARELLA not only got to keep his name, but he is also the on-air authority figure for TNA – who not only congratulates Hendry on his title win, but also introduces his first challenger for the World title…

TNA Genesis 2025
Congratulations, TNA. It took you a little while, but you finally believe in Joe Hendry.
Welcome to the rest of us.
Truth be told, I did not intend on watching this show because I was largely busy that weekend, but I did make a point to catch the replay if the above happened and sure enough, that’s what we got. And so here we are. I also plan on doing musings for the Bound For Glory show from months ago, but that’s for later down the road. Right now, we’ve got this show… which also featured some involvement from NXT talent thanks to the recent TNA/WWE deal that sees a talent exchange between both groups. Now if you were to tell me fifteen years ago that TNA and WWE would not only be on good terms with each other, but go so far as to have some limited form of talent exchange, I’d call you nuts. In fact, I still think this is nuts. Still, good on TNA. This is a good thing for them, along with the move to Sportsnet 360 up in Canada, which gives them slightly more visibility (as well as priority, since TNA being owned by Anthem – a Canadian company – makes them defacto CANADIAN CONTENT that must be showcased.)
Anyway, besides the above, there’s a whole lot of show to cover here, so let’s dive in.
Review #1148 – Fatal Fury 2 (Super NES)
Now available on Nintendo Switch Online, which is no longer for good boys and girls of all ages.
How long before we hammer that gag into the dirt and kill it forever?
Review Delay…
Just a heads-up that today’s scheduled review has been postponed to tomorrow. I’ve been a little under the weather lately and haven’t been able to put the finishing touches on the review. To give you an idea on what’s next, here’s a hint. It’s a fatal fighter on NSO that’s for good boys and girls of all ages.
Actually, thinking about it, the next two reviews will be pushed back by a day. So tomorrow and Thursday will see reviews rather than Monday and Wednesday. The Friday review should be up as scheduled. Fuck knows what happens next week.
Listen, I haven’t been feeling all that great and I’m not exactly in the best of moods, either. Will try to do better next time, but right now, I’m just not in the proper mindset. Thanks,2025.
Sorry, folks. Will do better next time.
New AVGN Game For NES… From Limited Run (Grrr….)
Good news for you AVGN fans out there – the Angry Video Game Nerd is getting his own genuine, honest-to-fuck Nintendo Entertainment System gamepak that isn’t a glorified ROM Hack or anything like that, but a brand-fucking-new game!
Even better news – there’s even a genuine NES cart that’s being put out if you want to play it on your actual NES (though it’ll also be available for modern platforms as well via digital release.)
The bad news – the NES version is sold through Limited Run… so you can pre-order your NES version, wait two years before it finally ships, and by the time you get it, you’ll have forgotten all about it until you open up the package and go “Oh yeah, I forgot. I bought this.”
Speaking of things we forgot, what’s the news on that new SNES version of DooM that was announced months ago? We haven’t heard so much as a arch-vile’s limp dick’s worth of updates since that time. When is that going up for pre-order?
If these chuckleheads are supposed to be the paragons of physical media going forward, then I’d rather embrace DRM-laced digital rentals for the future.
AEW Dynamite (January 22nd, 2025) – Death Television Riders
This past Thursday, TNA aired their first live episode of Impact in eight years and while I haven’t gotten around to watching it yet, I will give it a watch this weekend and hopefully have some thoughts up shortly after posting the Genesis PPV musings this coming Wednesday.
But in the meantime, we have this baffling AEW Dynamite show that continues to chug along. Nice that they’re embracing smaller, more intimate arenas… though I’m sure some will scoff as to how far they’ve fallen since their early years. Let’s be fair, though; some of AEW’s best work happened when there were no crowds in the audience; something that couldn’t be said for WWE or TNA for that matter. (And I tried re-watching those 2020 COVID shows… they are not pleasant for a variety of reasons.)

A Good Haul

I don’t know about you, but 2025 has been off to a good start.
Review #1147 – Welltris (MS-DOS)
Sure, it’s another Tetris-related vid, but aren’t you at least glad you’re not getting another 480p review?
