No Words…
You know sometimes I tend write some funny shit here and sometimes I tend to write the stuff that people have no idea on what to make of it. Today’s post doesn’t apply to either one.
Earlier today, there was a gunfight at Dawson College in Montreal. Twenty people were shot, two died, and the gunman was also killed off. Sometimes, you just don’t have the words to properly convey what’s going through your head, knowing something like this happened around your neck of the woods.
Prayers go out to those affected by this tasteless tragedy.
You know what? I’m tuning out for the rest of the week.
RAW (Sept. 11th, 2006) – Down And Dirty RAH Notes
Having been bored with what has happened on RAW (not to mention it was past my bedtime), I left the show to tape overnight and had just finished watching the rest of it. Final thoughts is that for a show building towards a PPV, it was rather lackluster and from a purely entertainment standpoint, I maintain my earlier “dry paint” statement. Ironic that they’d use that as a joke when it says so much about the show right now. But like I said, the PPV is shaping up to be a fairly decent card.
High Points: A bunch of Scots slapping the crap out of each other never seems to get old. Also, Jeff Hardy, no longer content with covering himself with paint, now has to cover other people with paint. Still doesn’t make it any more fun but it’s cute. Only decent match was the Trish/Mickie match…
Low Points: The main event sucked. Let’s not kid ourselves here: there’s nothing historical about McMahon wrestling in MSG since it’s not THAT big a deal. Certainly, Hunter tried to get something watchable out of Vince, but it ain’t happening.
Other than that, not much happened on the show that stood out. There were a couple decent matches buried within a couple crappy matches, but nothing that stands and says memorable. So if you missed the show, you didn’t miss much.
DTM BLOG Classics #24 – Watching Paint Dry Is More Fun Than Raw So Far And Other Stories
So, there’s a bunch of stuff to cover in this post, including some remasterings and some boring wrestling programs. Let’s get into it.
Classic Bite Commentary #54 – August 31st, 2006
I welcome you to the Bite and, for those who haven’t come here yet, I additionally welcome you to the new Webstation, which is now up for real. At the time the other commentary was written, it was planned that the site would be fully operational. Obviously, I timed it wrong and never bothered to fix the snafu. So if you really need me to pimp the site, then just read the other August entry where all the pimping is happening.

The Flame Could Be Gone
Something has been happening as of late. I can’t really explain it and I don’t know why.
As you may have noticed, there have been few Power Ranger-related postings as of late. In fact, the last time I’ve touched upon the subject was in a Bite post and in a fanfic update that never came to fruition. I haven’t been overly critical of the recent series on air because I have yet to see it… even now, when the series is already halfway through. Could it be possible my interest in the series is finally waning?
Can’t be, because I still watch the old stuff from time to time. I still read the occasional fanfic (now if only I can haul my ass to write the stuff left hanging). So what happened? Could it be that the more recent incarnations have lacked any value for me to be even remotely interested?
I don’t know. But I’m sure I’ll find out soon enough.
Classic Bite Commentary #53 – August 11th, 2006
I’ve made mention on the blog that I’ll be posting two entries this month. This is the first of the two while the other will be up close to the end of the month. If all goes well, something “special” will be announced on that edition. Having said that, I welcome you to the Bite and I additionally welcome you to the new Webstation. I’ll be completely honest with you; the design was done for a few months now, but I was working mostly on organization of content and division of stuff. Hopefully, this will pan out longer than the previous design (at least for the rest of the year… maybe longer.)
You’d probably notice that there’s randomly-generated banners on top once again. The good news is that unlike the first time, I know how the damn code works and things work a little more smoothly. Good thing too, because I really don’t feel like searching through my old files in fifteen different folders and reassemble everything for six hours. Yes, that’s how bad the old-style coding was for the site and that’s why the indefinitely-delayed Legacy forum (which would have displayed all the old sites in their full glory) is just that. Recent versions have more cleaner codes thanks to a refined knowledge of basic webpage creation.
Two weeks of vacation had gone rather smoothly outside of my brother’s brief stay(s) at the hospital. Good news is he doesn’t have any known heart conditions, bad news is that he’s had these panic attacks to the point where he basically can’t do anything now. Right now, he’s steadily recovering, but it’s a long road. Here’s hoping he gets better.
Other than that, things have been smooth and relaxing. Which is necessary since work is starting to get busier. That’s okay though. Work’s good for me. Especially since I get to work on some interesting stuff that passes through the pre-press stage of things.
That’s all for this edition… some of you are wondering if I neglected to mention something. Trust me, I know what’s missing. I know it’s something I touch on in every edition of the Bite since its return. But you know what? I’m not bothering with that anymore… not today anyway. If you really need my thoughts on that particular “tradition” or something, check out the Blog where the subject has been dominating as of late.
See you in a few weeks.
Extreme Crap – Rob Van… Damn – Hogan Injured Again, No One Cares

Captain Wesley – Misconceptions and Sequels… Oh Dear God, No!
So a few months back, I had written this short little non-comedic piece called The Adventures of Captain Wesley Crusher. In simpler terms, a terrible event occurs in which wizkid Wesley Crusher, still in his child genius stage as depicted in the first season of Next Gen, is promoted to captain. Hilarity ensures, right?
Two reviews are posted and both of them tell me the same thing; that I wrote the story as is because I hate Wesley Crusher. Now, I’ve cleared things up with said reviewers in a calm, polite manner since their reviews were written in a calm, honest, and polite manner. But since there are obviously those who are going to assume the same thing, I felt the need to address the story on a public forum… namely mine.
Two things need to be cleared up: first off, I have no ill will towards the Wesley Crusher character. Sure, I thought he was a snotty child genius character, but over time, he evolved into a young officer-in-training who earned his stripes, got a fair chance to contribute as an officer, and eventually managed to forge his own destiny. He’s not my favorite character, but he’s not exactly number 1 on my death list, either.
Another thing is that I had written in the disclaimer that characters wouldn’t portrayed the same way as they are in the show. It’s a necessity since you couldn’t overexaggerate the more mature Wesley Crusher of the latter days prior to his departure, but his early-first season role as the child genius was perfect fodder. The ending was written that way because it had to be for a happy ending. Either that or he died, and I didn’t want to kill him. Now would I have done that if I hated the character? No, but then if I hated the character, I wouldn’t have written about him, much less made a parody of him.
And that’s my two cents. Hopefully this clears up some misconceptions you might have about the story. And now that we got that out of the way, anyone who thinks Captain Wesley is a story that will go away into obscurity… well, think again. For I’m in the planning stages (with a friend) to write another epic master
That’s right, kids. A sequel.
There are a couple of changes made in terms of the treatment of characters. Unlike the first “epic” tale, this takes place a couple years later when Wesley is a little more mature and responsible. This means all the bad jokes and ugly portrayals of the first story is out, replacing it with proper narrative (don’t get too comfortable – some bad portrayals have leaked through the shields). The other change is that the story will have a darker slant to it and no doubt the challenges will put our Acting Ensign to the test.
Now would I be writing a serious story about a guy I hate?
GameFAQs Review – Mortal Kombat (Arcade)
Ah, the original Mortal Kombat arcade game. Released during the height of Street Fighter II’s increasing popularity, Mortal Kombat contained a few elements different from all the other fighters of the time, such as digitized actors and backgrounds, blood and gore, and a block button. The result is the start of one of the most popular video game franchises in the 1990s, but beneath all the hooplah concerning the violence and all that stuff, does a good game lie within?
Well… you have to start somewhere, right?
