VIDEO COMMENTARY #07 – Riker Shills Something (Boole & Babbage "Trek Vision" Commercial)

2021 Update:
Software company Boole & Babbage commissioned a short commercial for their product which featured Jonathan Frakes in his role as Commander William T. Riker of Star Trek: The Next Generation talking to some poor fellow dealing with some stuff. It was a weird thing that garnered some reactions, including the above commentary track.
If you’re interested in more details behind the making of this commercial and how it came to be, Trekcore actually had an interview with one of the marketing people there in 2013, which you can check out with the following link. It’s an interesting read.
Inside Boole & Babbage’s Trek Vision:
The commercial, sans my verbiage, can be seen below:

Piper Books Rock Vs. Cena

“I did shoot an idea to WWE.
I said put John Cena & The Rock
in Piper’s Pit at WrestleMania XVII.
Because I knew he wouldn’t wrestle
but everybody would wanna see him.
They should use people
who have given to the business
– like The Rock, like myself –
who are powerful enough to entertain.
Instead of just putting in Snooki.”

By the way, on a sidenote… isn’t it funny that Piper is talking about booking a segment between John Cena and the Rock and yet not one PEEP was made regarding the Miz… you know? YOUR reigning and defending WWE heavyweight champion of the World who just so happens to be defending the title against… JOHN CENA?
This Wrestlemania main event is going to suck, isn’t it?

Samurai… meh.

Saw a couple episodes of the newest Power Rangers Samurai and… I’m not particularly impressed with it. They tried to bring it back to basics, did away with the genetic ability crap that seemed to permeate all the Disney seasons in one form or another, and even Paulie’s reprisal of Bulk mentoring the Son Of Skull is a rather nice touch for the older folks, but the characters are relatively bland, there’s no real substance, and it just seems like they’re trying to produce a third-rate Shinkenger in English (no surprise considering who’s in charge of the executive production.)

Too early to form an opinion on the series at the moment – I just find it to be pretty meh so far and have a hard time contemplating whether I should keep going or stick with the older stuff.

Although I’ll admit…

This was rather cute.
