The Game Key Kard Krap De Krapola Krappers Krap Karap

So I had a Ramble video just about ready to go to chime in on this whole Game Keycard thing that Switch 2 is instituting. Long story shorts; these are cards with download codes and no actual game, but you can “resell” them because there’e a physical cart in there. Anyway, I did the audio, got some mild edits, just about ready to render… And then I read about the following…

Source: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2025/05/street-fighter-6-somehow-combines-game-key-card-and-code-in-a-box-on-switch-2

So the special Street Fighter thing that’s supposed to include the first two years worth of DLC? Apparently, those codes only last two years before they expire. So if you intend on buying one of these for the collection… well, not only are you getting a gameless card that will be useless in a decade when Switch 2 is put out to pasture, but the codes that add an extra cost to this package will no longer be valid if not used after a couple years.

Man, I was largely indifferent about this whole thing, but now that I’ve read about this… imagine how many other folks might be going in this direction. Can this industry just fucking die and be done with it?

WCW Superbrawl IV

Before anyone asks, I have yet to watch the Double Or Nothing show, though I did get the replay and will probably do so this weekend. If I do, expect a write-up for next week. In the meantime, however, we’ve got another WCW PPV event from 1994 uploaded onto the free WCW YouTube channel… will wonders never cease? Well, they did if you’re watching this show, which is best served as a precursor to WCW’s later (and far better) Spring Stampede ’94 PPV event. Still, this one isn’t all bad, is it?

Tetris (MS-DOS) (AcademySoft) – V3.12 Phantom Mode Gameplay

AcademySoft updated their MS-DOS port of Tetris to v3.12, which included a proper menu as well as a play mode called Phantom Mode, which renders all square blocks invisible. The results are interesting; here’s a sample for your weakly offering.

Potential review fodder for the future. Just saying.

QUIET! (or… Why Cobra Kai Works)

Cobra Kai ended its six-season run last month… and while the possibilities exist for further stories to be told with these characters, the main story – for all intents and purposes – has come to a close.

For those unaware, Cobra Kai is a spiritual successor to the original Karate Kid trilogy of films – by which I mean the first three films. There’s also a fourth movie with Hillary Swank and a “remake” of sorts with Jackie Chan and Will Smith’s kid, but neither of those are referenced or even touched upon in this series. In any event, the main character of this series is Johnny Lawrence, former All-Valley champ who once ate a crane kick in the face at the end of the first film and his life has gone downhill since then. So the crux of this series is basically Johnny getting his life back on track by bringing back the old Cobra Kai dojo and… stuff happens, afterwards.

We No Longer Believe In Joe Hendry…

Well, in case you haven’t heard, Joe Hendry’s illustrious TNA title reign came to an end at the hands of NXT talent Trick Williams at last night’s NXT live event that is about as premium as a bag of dog poop. The show was fine, but other than the one non-WWE title changing hands, nothing of note happened. The wrestling was fine and the show was over relatively quickly, but other than that… eh, not really worth digesting over.

Oh well… time to retire the Joe Hendry meme.

Later…

Oh yeah, I forgot. AEW had a PPV last night too.

Um…

I’ll get to it eventually…

Just not any time soon…

Saturday Night’s Main Event (May 24th, 2025) – Endless Commercials = ABSOLUTE CINEMA

So WWE put up the recent edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event on Youtube for those of us outside of the U.S. who lack the ability to watch this thing on Peacock… even though up here in Canada, we do indeed have NBC to watch this shit. Is this even on Netflix? Anyway, I gave it a watch… the show was mostly commercials, which was “absolute cinema” as the lame kids call it. And indeed, while you folks had commercials, we had a blank screen. It was truly riveting… almost as riveting as these bullriding events that are also on the WWE channel.

I realize it’s a TKO thing and all, but if I were subscribed to WWE on Youtube, I’d be wondering why the fuck am I getting videos about a sport I don’t care about? It’s bad enough that these people are deluded enough to think that the WWE/MMA crossover appeal is wider than it actually is – which is virtually nonexistent – but now who is going to watch RAW and think, “Gee whiz, you know what’d be cool? CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre in a bull riding contest.” Unless one of the bulls almost kicks one of those guys in the head and they retaliate with a Terry Funk-esque promo, there’s no appeal to this shit, folks.

Anyway, regardless of my quibbles, I saw most of the show… which was just there. Joe Tessitore and Jesse Ventura welcomed us to the show, ran down a bit of the card, and passed it on our regular announce team of Michael Cole and that fucking idiot Pat McAfee… who can go fuck himself.

Re-Ignition? More Like Regurgitate. HA! I Kill Me!

Hey, if they’re recycling something old, then so am I.

Hasbro has begun uploading episodes of their “new” Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Re-Ignition series… which is basically an upscaled version of the first season of Mighty Morphin with an added “Mighty Morphin Minute” featuring some annoying dude spouting some trivia and lore. Other than a slight change on the title card and also that one minute of whatever, it’s the same Mighty Morphin series you’ve seen countless times, but now it looks “nicer” or something.

You have to admire the hustle on Hasbro’s part… or maybe they’re following the Gordon Ramsay approach of uploading the same content over and over for several years while finding new ways of spinning it so that it doesn’t seem like you’re watching the same stuff over and over again. For those of us who actually go on the channel to look up the playlists, you can find most of the old Power Rangers seasons organized into playlists. They’re not Super Duper 16K or whatever, but at least you don’t have to wait for the slow drip and there’s no punk kid trying to sound cool spouting facts over a show that was around long before he was a fetus in his mother’s womb.

I miss Dave Mallow.
