RAW After Mania (April 2nd, 2001): It All Started Here

Oy… it’s that show.

Wrestlemania X-Seven has been touted as one of (if not THE) greatest Wrestlemania card of all time. It had top to bottom great matches, all the big stars, some exciting moments, and was the first stadium show in a good long while… and then Steve Austin turned heel in the main event and that began the downward spiral of the McMahon sports entertainment empire.

Review #750 – Super Metroid (Super NES)

It’s taken me quite a bit to get this one out, but here it is. The game whose homework Koji Igarashi copied to get out making more games about a guy/gal with a whip fighting vampires and inadvertently introduced an ill-fitting term… because it should technically be SUPER Metroid-Vania since THIS is the homework being copied, not Metroid classic.

But I digress. The point is I’ve finally marked another one off the bucket list. We’re moving up in the world, kids!

Variety Tries To Figure Out Why Nobody Is Watching WWE Anymore

Source: https://variety.com/vip/wwes-mounting-problems-audience-declines-saudi-arabia-andrew-yang-1234781384/

Spoiler: they say the same things everyone else has been saying for years. Product isn’t good as it used to be, it’s too juvenile, kids aren’t watching, Saudi Arabia, and the independent contractor status among things being brought up. The fact that mainstream media is picking up on it – even if it is just Variety and not much more than that – seems a bit troubling.

I wouldn’t read too much into this, however. Wrestling is that fake bullshit, after all, and doesn’t merit proper coverage unless someone dies from a steroid overdose or something. I can’t imagine this Andrew Lang thing lasting any longer than the current election cycle before it’s promptly forgotten about when we no longer need to cater to those hick rasslin’ fans who probably don’t even know what a polling station is.

Oh, well. It’s a fun read for anyone who wants to pretend people give one modicum of a rat’s ass about WWE.

Welp, The New Blogger Is A Thing

It’s still ass. It’s not quite as useful unless I want to search specific posts for editing, which is rare. But it’s a pain in the ass to use and I’m not thrilled at the prospect of having to use this utterly worthless piece of shit interface for the foreseeable future until they come up with a new editing scheme that sucks even worse.

Fortunately, my tab that has the old Legacy Blogger gimmick hasn’t been updated and thank fuck for that. Who knows how long that will last, but I’m going to make the most of it while I can.

A dissatisfied customer.

TNA Impact Wrestling Slammiversary 2020

So Impact Wrestling… is still alive.

Now that we got that out of the way, seems that in addition to WWE and AEW, Impact Wrestling is also still producing wrestling shows. Unlike WWE and AEW, Impact is still running empty arena shows, otherwise known as TNA House Shows… hence the above Mick Foley quote that was posted ages ago. Just goes to show that even with nobody watching, Impact is still in business doing shows. That promotion will last longer than anyone else worth a damn.

But I digress… we’re taking a look at their Slammiversary show from July of this month. This was apparently a big deal as it was pushed around the idea of some future endeavored WWE guys potentially showing up on this PPV. Fun fact: this ran on a Saturday, allowing WWE to run their Extreme Rules PPV the next night which promised an eyeball popping (that didn’t happen) and a swamp fight (which also didn’t happened and we got another “wacky” Wyatt skit). We’re not touching that show because I haven’t seen it.

RAW After Mania (April 3rd, 2000)- After A Bad Mania

Yep.

Wrestlemania 2000 (their branding, not mine) was a peculiar little show and not a particularly good one. It was perhaps most notable for its main event; a four-corners elimination match for the WWF Championship with a McMahon in every corner that saw reigning WWF Champion HHH become the first heel (bad guy) to walk out of ‘Mania with the championship. To send the crowd home happy, Rock Rockbottomed Steph and gave her a People’s Elbow.
