Royal Ramble 2025

So let’s get this out of the way right off the bat, yeah?

TNA World Champion Joe Hendry came out at #15 to a massive pop and 70,000+ people in the George Lucas Oil arena in Indy were singing his song. He got a few licks in while Sheamus was in the corner entertained by the whole thing before Jacob Fatu came along and knocked Joe out, which upset Sheamus tremendously. And then Roman Reigns came along at #16 and eliminated a couple folks. Joe tries for a shot, but gets speared and tossed for his trouble, with some mild heckling from the audience… well, that went as well as I expected… but yes, Joe Hendry was at the Royal Rumble, he had his time in the sun, and people cheered him on. Nothing else on this show matters and we can all move on with our lives.

But… if you really want to know about the rest of the show, you can read about it after the break, but I’ve very little to say.

Royal Ramble 2015

Has it really been a decade since this show took place?

Has it really been that long since we last touched this pile of shit?

So… today, we revisit the 2015 Royal Rumble show. The show that pretty much kicked off what was, at the time, the shove of Roman Reigns down the collective throats of the WWE Universe whether they liked it or not. The show that pretty much cemented that relationship for the next five years. The show that, in the long run, served as the beginning of this whole Bloodline thing that’s going on today.

I haven’t touched this show in a decade and yeah, it’s a bit interesting to go back to this one after all this time. Perhaps one of the most infamous shows in all of WWE history, but one that plays a pivotal roll in what would become the single most dominant saga for the next decade – that of Roman Reigns. All those years of the company pushing him as the next big star, only to get rejected by an audience who preferred one or others in that spot, their many attempts to garner sympathy for Roman and ultimately backfiring, all those supposed ascensions to the throne that would later be reversed and THIS TIME FOR SURE… and yet all it took was a sabbatical from the company for Roman to rethink his entire perspective and come back in late-2020 to begin a dominant run that would last damn near four years.

And yes, Roman’s run as the Tribal Chief – regardless of its actual content – is one for the ages. One of the most important and significant tales ever depicted on WWE television and perhaps the best work of Reigns’ career, as a result… and yet Roman’s story really began here. On this fateful night. Where he was to make his first step towards superstardom…

And also, there was a lot of other show here, too…

Royal Ramble 2024

Well… on a rather “uneventful” week of news, we got a rather “uneventful” Rumble.

Would’ve been nice if it were true…

So, yes, there was a particularly dark cloud that preceded over what initially began as a rather big week of development in WWE – notably the announcement of a monumental deal with Netflix that would see the streaming service become the new home of Monday Night RAW in 2025 as well as all subsequent WWE Network content outside the United States, which means that come 2025, Canada can watch WWE material on Netflix and the WWE Network would be no more. And I’ve made a post on that when the news broke.

And then… the other thing happened… I’m sure you know what I’m talking about…

I’m not going to say anything regarding that piece of business. There’s nothing I can say that hasn’t already been said and quite honestly, I would be doing nothing but adding more white noise to a ball of white noise surrounding a dreadfully disturbing situation that is still developing and will continue to do so for quite some time. Maybe some day… but not today.

In any event, I did watch some of the Rumble live, but not all of it. I ended up getting caught up with the rest of the show during the week. As to why this took longer than usual… well, other stuff came up, but I’m afraid there’s not much I could say abut the show. The card was fairly light – only four matches – but when two of those matches are the annual Royal Rumbles – it’s easy to forgive the lightweight content.

Anyway, let’s check this show out.

Royal Ramble 2023

So this took a little while longer than usual… because as it turns out, I had quite a bit to say.

First off, this show did huge numbers, so regardless of what I or anyone else has to say critically about the show itself, WWE is currently on a hot streak that I don’t think it’s had in a good long while. There’s some good stuff going on there right now and there’s actually a sense of hope that things will continue to get better despite the presence of some stuff that might hinder that a bit.

Now with that said, was the Rumble show any good? Well, let’s dive in.

Royal Ramble 2014

Yeah, this is a noteworthy show… one of those shows that ends up being memorable for all the wrong reasons. If there is any one show you could point as the beginning of the crumbling of WWE’s product… well, there’s plenty of those that do a far better job of that than this show, but I guess we can throw this in the hat.
