WCW/nWo Uncensored ’98

Yeah, I saw this one back in the day… I don’t remember much about it, but I doubt it’ll be as entertaining as that one show where Eric Bischoff beat Vince McMahon via countout in a make-believe street fight or something.

Anyway, while March saw the Austin era begin at Wrestlemania, WCW fans had this show to look forward to… well, let’s jump into it.

WCW Uncensored ’96

A couple years ago, we covered the very first WCW Uncensored event from 1995; a “unique” concept PPV that would comprise nothing but gimmick matches and things of that nature, similar to the current day WWE Extreme Rules PPV concept, except somewhat goofier… I guess. NowI covered the ’95 version since I had that on tape, but never got around to watching the remaining five editions of this series until I got access to the VOD aspect of the WWE Network. As such, we’ll be looking at the remaining shows this month and… well, it’ll be not boring… I hope.

Today’s subject matter is WCW Uncensored 1996, home of the Doomsday Cage match where Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage take one EIGHT men in a triple decker cage!

WWE Heck In A Cell 2018

So there were three Network shows that took place in the past two months. One was playing in the background and I ended up watching first (as evidenced by the subsequent posting made). The other took place just this past weekend and I ended up not watching due to lack of interest. And then the other show is the subject of today’s post.

In any event, I completely forgot about the Hell In A Cell show until a couple weeks ago, so here we are. I’ve heard some good things about this show as well as some bad things, but the only reason I even bothered to watch this is spelled out for you in the banner for this post. That having been, this is being posted after two other events have already taken place and I will try NOT to elude to events I have yet to see… but sometimes, you know, I just can’t help myself.

TNA Against All Odds 2005

A bit of a change of pace in this TNA marathon of sorts, as I diverge from the Global network thing and dive into my DVD collection, where I pull out a 2-disc DVD set of TNA Against All Odds 2005. Don’t get excited; they just split the PPV into two discs and so you have to swap discs halfway through because… sure, why not?

On a related note, I’ve yet to watch the Bound For Glory PPV… I’ve heard good things about it, though. Maybe when it’s on the Global Network thing, I’ll give it a watch. Who knows?

TNA Sacrifice 2011

So this is the show that’s perhaps best known for being Chyna’s first (and only) appearance in TNA Impact Wrestling before continuing with her porn career. That is, of course, assuming that you were even cognizant of the fact that Chyna, the former Ninth Wonder of the World and 2-time WWF Intercontinental champion, once made a brief return to North American pro wrestling with a very brief stint in TNA… because even though I have touched on the subject on this blog in the past, I had completely forgotten about this one until I was revisiting the old blog posts.

So here’s the deal; this is a TNA PPV from 2011, which hasn’t been a high point for the company and pretty much that whole era was what turned me off from the promotion once and for all. As such, I’m probably not going to be saying much in this regard considering I know very little about the proceedings and can only react to the show from a largely ignorant view.

But in any event… let’s see how this show fares several years removed from when it last aired.

WCW Super Slow-Down (Australia House Show)

So World Championship Wrestling has made their long-awaited return to Australia and they’ve gone with the successful formula of young, talented guys in the undercard while the main event comprises two old guys who can’t wrestle a lick worth a damn and has to resort to smoke and mirrors to put on a “compelling” main event.

Yep, sounds like a WCW show to me.

My attention was largely fleeting for this one since this is just background noise for the sake of background noise… but I did watch a good chunk of the show when it was interesting, so you’ll have some thoughts in some places while in other places, I’ll be brief.

TNA Victory Road 2009

Fun fact: Upon subscribing to the Global Wrestling Network service that houses all the TNA/Impact stuff, the first show that I looked up was Victory Road 2009. Yes, the one with the infamous MINUS. FIVE. STARS. match between Sharmell and Survivor Jenna. Now, for the record, I have seen the match plenty of times when it was on Youtube through “third-party intermediaries” for lack of a better term and perhaps that should’ve been a sign as to whether it was worth tracking down the rest of the show.

And so here I am; having just watched the show mere moments ago and wondering to myself what the fuck did I just watch. Sharmell vs Survivor Jenna should’ve been a warning sign that the show was off… but I didn’t heed its warning and instead… let’s get this over with.

TNA Slammiversary 2005

Hey, did you know that TNA Impact Wrestling made this show available for free on their YouTube channel? Get it while it’s hot; otherwise, you’ll have to settle for my lightly-worded write up that will be missing some important details!

So yeah, I’ve little to say about this one because outside of two TNA PPVs I have on DVD and haven’t seen in a good long while, I’m basically going into this in the dark. So here we go.

TNA Bound For Glory 2006

With the Bound for Glory PPV from TNA Impact Wrestling around the corner, I’d figure it would be a good opportunity to shoot out a few TNA PPV musings for old times sake. Some of these, such as today’s subject matter, I have on DVD while others I was able to watch through the Global Wrestling Network thing. We’re getting a headstart by covering the 2006 iteration of the Bound For Glory PPV today, but for the month of October, it’ll be all TNA, all the time, and whether that amounts to good shows or not… is an entirely different story.

So let’s go with Bound for Glory 2006… since it’s the only BFG show I have on DVD. We might look at one more along the way, but for now…
