NWA Is Running Another Sam Haine Show… Joy…

Pushing today’s scheduled review a day later so that I can share this little gem. Billy Corgan’s NWA (remember them) are doing a Samhain 2 show… no one knows if it’s going to be a PPV or a special edition of their weekly Powerrrrrrrr show that’s on the CW app that nobody uses.

For those who don’t recall, the first Samhain PPV was the show with Sinister Minister James Mitchell’s cocaine line being aired live on PPV. Apparently, this is what prompted CW to go from “Let’s have NWA on our Network” to “Let’s have NXT on our network and… I guess we’ll give Billy a slot on our CW apps. I’m sure he’ll be fine with that.”

I actually did a musings on that show. I remember it being largely terrible… but it did end the terrible NWA World title reign of Brodus “Tyrus” Clay, so that’s one good… thing… I guess?

Here’s the musings for anyone who cares.

Should Be Getting A New PC This Weekend

Been meaning to get a new desktop PC for a while now with some decent specs at affordable pricing. Nothing too fancy, but far stronger than my old dying HP Omen and hopefully suitable enough to get a decent stream going; something that I’ve not been able to do with the mini PC I’ve got going on here.

What will become of the mini PC? Oh, it’ll still see regular use – it has to since that’s where VEGAS and most of the gaming stuff is situated. Also, it’s a nice convenient device that I can pack up and take with me on a road trip whenever I need to, so it’ll always have a use. However, I do miss having a proper desktop on hand and hopefully, this will lead to bigger and better things going forward… such as proper live streams because those things are long overdue and I’m clamoring to do one sooner than later.

How Do You Fix Joker 2? Don’t Make It…

Someone wondered how the flop sequel Joker: Folie A Doo-Doo could be fixed. Someone wrote an elaborate article on a website whose name I mention in the same cadence that Jim Carrey’s Riddler screams out “BRAIN DRAIN!” Someone had thought about all the fixes that could have fixed this somewhat ill-conceived movie. I’m sure they’ve given this issue a lot of thought on how this Joker sequel could have been salvaged.

I won’t bother with an overly long post on how to fix Joker 2. I’ll just tell you straight up how to fix the movie.

Don’t make it in the first place.

Joker (2019) didn’t need a sequel. Not everything needs a sequel. Sometimes, a sequel runs the risk of sullying the original and just adds nothing to the overall narrative. The guy who directed Joker didn’t want to make a sequel, but he was told to make a sequel, so he did everything he could to make a movie that was so vile, nobody would like it or pay money to see it in theaters.

That may or may not be the case, but if it is, it’s a brilliant strategy. Hopefully, it pays off and there won’t be a Joker 3.

Black Friday Stuff

Before anyone asks, reviews are being shoehorned to the end of the week… been busy with stuff and illness. Nothing serious, but enough to curtail some stuff that I was working on. That and Black Friday.

Some fun stuff on the horizon, actually. I picked up a new monitor and I’m supposed to get a new desktop some time this week. It’s comparable to the old one, but costs less. Is it a gaming powerhouse? Probably not, but it’s enough to hopefully run my old shit competently enough and perhaps even start up on some live streaming, which I’m hoping to get back to doing sometime next year.

Not much else to say at this point… I’ve got some reviews in the horizon that’s under various states of not finished… and there’s also Christmas shopping… and there’s a couple other side projects that I’d like to get out of the way.

Should be fun… or maybe it’ll be painful…

Five Years Ago… The AEW Promo That Changed Things

From the November 6th, 2019 episode of AEW Dynamite, Cody (not yet Rhodes again) cuts a promo for his upcoming Full Gear 2019 match with then-AEW Champion Chris Jericho stipulating that if he doesn’t win the title, then he will never challenge for said title again. For those who don’t know, Cody would lose said match against Jericho and would never get another shot at the AEW World title ever again.

It’d be a stretch to say that this promo “changed things.” At the time, Cody was simply trying to avoid the pitfalls of management putting themselves in hot angles. Jeff Jarrett as NWA Champion in TNA when he owned the company comes to mind. HHH as multiple time WWE Champion and getting favorable treatment after marrying into the family. Just about any mom-and-pop promotion who opts to book family as the top stars because you know they’re never leaving… allegedly. So this is Cody eliminating himself from that discussion and he’d go on to have a decent TNT title run before things fell off the wayside for a variety of reasons.

Cut to a few years later and Cody Rhodes left AEW for WWE. And despite a couple hiccups here or there, Cody’s WWE run FAR eclipsed anything he was doing in AEW. He even got to win the WWE title and finish that story.

Would any of this have been possible had Cody not cut this promo? Perhaps… perhaps things would’ve turned out the same and Cody still would’ve left for WWE to bring about a new era to that promotion (among other factors, of course.) But considering that the Young Bucks have had multiple tag-team runs and even Kenny Omega got a decent AEW World title run to his credit… maybe Cody jumped the gun in this case.

Rewatching this promo after everything that has happened… one of the comments said it best; this does hit differently now with hindsight in mind.

Is It Too Soon To Make The Corona Jokes?

I’d leave it to the imagination, so that people can the obvious assumptions and all… but no, the titular Corona refers to a collection of protostars that supposedly threaten the universe.

I wonder if this was where JJ Abrams got the idea for his Star Trek movie…

And I actually like the movie, you double dumbasses. Let’s set that to bed, right now…
