Casey F'N Jones

Full feature: http://caseyjonesthemovie.com/

This was out for two years… how the fuck did I miss this?

Won’t spoil anything, but it’s a fan film centered around Casey Jones and how he came to be. It’s actually pretty good with its only problem being its length; the half-hour passes by so fast that by the time I finished watching, I was like… “That’s it? I wanted more!”

Very well done, folks. Me likes.

About Mania 28…

Going to be at a birthday party and am hoping to make it to a friend’s place to watch tonight’s PPV masterpiece of low expectations and championship bouts overshadowed by “dream” matches that do not interest me in the slightest. Will probably record a vlog discussing some initial thoughts on the show later tonight and upload around the same time. I reckon it’ll be long and serve as a substitute for whatever Ramblemania entry that might result from this.

Differing mindsets on HHH/Taker matches

From this blog, posted 13 months ago and regarding last year’s HHH/Taker abomination;

“Triple H has to be pissing himself right now. At this point, his potential big comeback to face off against Undertaker (also making the big comeback 2-21-11) with special ref Shawn Michaels means NOTHING. The reaction is basically going to be:

“Yeah, okay, those guys are coming back. That’s nice. Career vs. Streak, Inferno Death Match. Nice. Nice. But THE ROCK’S COMING BACK!!!!

“I mean… seriously, who gives a shit at this point? They’re gonna have a match… so what? They had a match ten years ago, who cares? THE ROCK’S COMING BACK!”

A year later, HHH/Taker is having a match in a cage (this time WITH HBK as ref). Rock is dueling with Cena… so what? Who cares? SHEAMUS AND DANIEL BRYAN ARE WRESTLING FOR THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP AT WRESTLEMANIA! YES! YES! YES!

(2014 Update: And then the match happened… all eighteen seconds of it. There was no more Yes. Could there be a repeat at Wrestlemania XXX?)

Worst HiaC Match Evar? I Don't think so…

So I was reading Justin Henry’s 20 Worst Wrestlemania Matches Ever list and I came across this tidbit he wrote on the Wrestlemania XV Hell In A Cell match between the Undertaker and the Big Boss Man (RIP), which saw the latter participant hanged. Here’s the blurb in question:

Yes, not only was a man hanged, but Michael Cole on commentary expressed his shock and disgust about it. Then four seconds later, he changed tone and said, “Well folks, coming up next–“, as if he had just forgotten that a man was vertically asphyxiated before his very eyes. See kids, Cole’s been a dumbass for a loooong time. Oh, and the match was probably the worst Hell in a Cell ever, with about as much ultraviolence as a game of Parcheesi.

Now I have to disagree with this assessment; while this is not one of the better efforts within the Hell In A Cell structure, it is far from the “worst.” People seem to forget that Kennel From Hell match between Al Snow and The Big Boss Man, which not only featured the Hell In A Cell structure, but that cell also surrounded the classic blue barred cage and supposedly vicious dogs that didn’t care about the match and took a piss instead. No, really. That’s what happened.

Aside from that, however, the match itself wasn’t anything special, but there was a hanging. It’s more than what we get from Hell In A Cell matches these days… which is probably why I’m not as excited about the HHH/Taker snorefest in a cell match as everyone else is. It’s pretty much going to be the same sloppy, slow-motion mess of a match that we got last year, except within a cage and Hunter’s BFF HBK as the special ref. It’s going to take something more than juice to really get me excited about this match, because at the moment, I honestly don’t give a rat’s ass about either one of these guys in this match.

IDW’s Shredder

Funny how things work, you know? Back in the original Mirage series, Shredder was offed in the first issue. Brought back to life later on and killed off once more (permanently) when the original TMNT cartoon was in its third year… with Shredder as a main villain. And yet, here we are on a new comic building up on a character that was essentially a throw-away. Funny how that works.

As far as this rendition of Shredder? Looks like he’s human and not a shell for a Utrom like in the 2003 cartoon (like the cartoon, but hated that version of Shredder). Then again, not much is known at this point, so who knows what the deal is. At the very least, I like the new design. Nice and simple, yet imposing at the same time. Sometimes, it’s the little things that work.

An Oldie, But Goodie

“The only things that could survive a nuclear holocaust are cockroaches, Twinkies,

 and STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN.”

Emer “Hellsing920” Prevost

while reviewing the Stone Cold Steve Austin comics

Yeah, that’s right. Stone Cold had his OWN comic.

Does John Cena have his own comic?

No, he has to share with others.

In yo’ face, Johnny!

By the way, you know who else got his own comic?

THE ROCK.

Suck it, Johnny.

Random Thought About… Shell Shocked

Interesting dilemma here… the PRiS episode “Shell-Shocked” which featured the TMNT… or rather, the Ninja turtles from the Next Mutation series, are suddenly tossed out of the sewer and are greeted by Astronema, whom none of the Turtles supposedly know about… well, except for Venus, who refers to Astronema as the “princess of evil.” This despite Astronema never introducing herself as such… how could she have know if the Turtles supposedly never heard of Astronema and believe the exploits of the Power Rangers to be make believe.

Let’s not forget that this is PRiS’ fourth episode, which means Astronema isn’t generally well-known to the Earthers… so how the fuck does Venus know about Astronema?!

WTF indeed…

Random Thought About… Tournament Fighters.

Recently popped in TMNT: Tournament Fighters for Super NES… holy crap, is the AI in this game hard. Even on the easiest setting, the CPU’s offense is almost relentless, but that’s not why I’m here. Anyway, a random thought occurred while I was playing Tournament Fighters… where did the character Aska come from?

As I recall, the game is sort of a mishmash of elements from the various TMNT properties. Primarily based on the TMNT cartoon that started in 87, but contains a number of characters from other sources. For example, Shredder’s appearance is based on the original comics rather than the animated series. Also, the final boss of the game is Karai, whose only prominent appearance was in the 13-part “City At War” storyline that brought a close to the original Mirage Studios comic run that would make way for a color series. And then there’s War and Armagon, two characters from the Archie Comics series run.
And then we have this Aska character… apparently an original character that was made for the game… and I’m wondering… why?
Funny thing is that I don’t think Aska has been seen since in any other TMNT (or Konami) property since Tournament Fighters. So I gotta wonder about that… or maybe I don’t.
Anyway, just a random thought.
